303abuser I’m usually like that as well. Same with books. Can happily re-read my favourite novels every 12-24 months without really recalling a lot about the plot.

Requiem for a Dream was different - there was just so much bound up in the last 5 mins of the movie that I can frankly never shift from my mind, that made it feel like a bad idea to revisit it. First time I watched, was quite literally sitting on the edge of my seat with my heart racing at the end of the movie….

vinnyt77 it’s actually been on my watch list for a while, just haven’t gotten to it. i saw it 20ish years ago and don’t remember a single thing about it, outside a vague feeling that it was both good and disturbing, but i don’t even know how accurate that is. time for a revisit.

I watched Requiem for a Dream when it first came out, in an arty cinema IIRC and loved it.

Then watched it again around 2010 and thought “fuck me, this is only 10 years old but it seems really dated”.

Then I watched it again about a year ago and that it is well 2000 makes it seem timeless now. Weird how that happens. This is the most ‘Year 2000’ thing in any movie ever, I think…

A lot of movies from the ’90’s are like this now. Highly stylized. “Electronica” soundtracks. Drugs being a plot point. They’re almost period pieces.

It’s the only film I’ve ever watched where I’ve immediately thought “Fuck me, the editing of that film was fantastic”. I looked it up and found out it won an Oscar for it.

That period of cinema and literature was tremendous as it drew a lot from club culture and recreational drugs. RFAD, Fight Club, Memento, The Usual Suspects, Trainspotting, Dark City, Mulholland Drive, American Psycho to name a few.

Just cooking for yourself or your family isn’t the only thing that will save you (although it definitely helps). I cook really well for myself….very healthy food as well….I’m still fat. It’s about balance and moderation.

portion control is definitely a learned skill and intermittent fasting really helps accelerate the curve.

303abuser Totally. I love IF. Unfortunately with some new meds I’m on, I can’t do it properly. Longest I can go is 10 hours 👎🏼 I made some really good strides while doing IF though! Highly recommended. Still gotta watch what and how much you’re eating, but closing down that window you’re eating in really does help.

Kells77 it’s generally tougher for women than men. i can do 16 hours with no problem, but my wife can only handle 10-12 and i think that’s pretty normal. it’s also way easier if you’re on keto because your body burns fat for energy so you can go much longer without eating.
