Jules72 Along_the_Wire sorry mate but rave is not as good as coffee compass …. Good value perhaps but just not the same quality
Along_the_Wire Jules72 I just went with the first recommendation I saw - I’ll have a gander at Compass too
Jules72 Dubman yeah the mystery beans pretty good and great value… but still prefer the bourbon or Brighton
Dubman Jules72 I ask the owner what are his best selling beans. Sweet bourbon & Brighton lanes.. I’ve tried neither.
Old-Dutch @Along_the_Wire Bourbon, Brighton Lanes and Cherry Cherry better than Mystery (can get 3 × 500g bags for £26) from coffee compass but maybe grabbing a kilo of Mystery to start you off and get used to dialing in whilst seasoning the burs isn’t a bad idea
Old-Dutch Dubman I do for a week mate yes. They need to degass otherwise very unpredictable when trying to get anything consistent when dialing in.
Old-Dutch Along_the_Wire COFFEE10 for a 10% discount at Coffee Compass mate. Works on everything except Mystery Blend. If you are going to buy in bulk - might want to consider some vacuumed storage tins (https://www.coffeecompass.co.uk/collections/extras/products/coffeevac-storage-container-250g - not bad, but Airscape are better https://www.bellabarista.co.uk/airscaper-classic-medium-3.html) and or freezing the beans ( in the bags they come in squeeze out gas from valve and then seal valve with sellotape after a week of resting) to keep fresh.
Along_the_Wire Fuck me, what a game changer - coffee beans arrived this morning and the Rave Italian blend espresso is magnificent - after my cynicism, I can’t believe I’ve been pissing around with Lavazza ground coffee. Lovely.
C_J Along_the_Wire Good choice. Do they still do the Indian Monsoon beans? Those were dank as hell. Proper dark chocolate vibe going on. Think they may be an occasional / special edition thing.
Along_the_Wire C_J Dunno mate - got the espresso selection pack. I only drink espresso to be honest. I’ve had four today. Far from ideal.
bosstrabs C_J I had 12 espressos before an exam once. Felt worse than any comedown. A better move was my mate Gav, who put a mitsi in his pack of polos so he could come up just at the end of his 3rd year final, final Philosophy exam.
