DJ setups/Mixer porn/New toys thread...
Lol itās just another addiction, worse than records were for me.
303abuser Currently mine is camera lenses but I know this rabbit hole isnāt dissimilar!
NasserAlazzawi Yeah it applies to most tech hobbies I assume. Iām trying to be judicious with my purchases, but it never ends.
303abuser Bikes, DJ equipment, tech and massive Sammys are definitely taking their toll.
Along_the_Wire It was definitely easier when all you needed was two 1200s and a mixer. Now itās this compressor colours sound differently and that eq introduces too much low end phasing.
Playing tomorrow with Denon-players, so googled playlist-transfer again. I canāt remember for sure, but I tried library-transfer in November, and I donāt remember it being this easy, nevermind exporting hot cues and loops. Tried it and it works.

Just today told a story of when I was doing a 4 hour set here in Turku at an afterparty sometime in 2003, all vinyl. I didnāt yet live in the city, and spent the night at my sisterās couch, then woke up at 4 AM and started hauling two big bags of records three kilometres to the city center for my 5 AM start time. Half way point was the Aura river and I nearly chugged the bags there and went back to the couch. All because I was too cheap to get a taxi. Eventually got to the venue with five minutes to spare, played the gig, it was OK, and suddenly found funds to get a cab back.
Vinyl, never again outside of home.
Homegrove Hahaha I have the exact reverse story. Was supposed to play at 11, go get hammered at 7 with my record bag (Iāll say it was at least 30 lbs, I have no idea, it was just heavy), show up at 1045 and the doors to the club are locked. Go around back and the kitchen guy is smoking by the stairs, said the cops showed up and shut it down. So we smoke a joint with him, then proceed to walk for an hour and a half, carrying my records. I couldnāt lift my right arm for 3 days and had marks on my shoulder for a week.
I love that you actually played after, I couldnāt have done it.
Any recommendations regarding DJ software for putting together mixes quickly? Ive never got on with Ableton so looking for something I can lay out 25 or so tracks in sequence with beat matching/fade in/out etc. and maybe effect overlay for segments of the track.
Be nice to work on a mix like a project, grabbing 30 min to work on it on the train to work / on the throne etc. Multi tasking likeā¦..
IndustryStandard
Only ever used Traktor Pro 2 and found it really easy to use once youāve set it up.
I use that too for āliveā mixes, but wanted a program I can map out mixes rather than actually play live and record.
Want to grab 20min here and there to build a mix over a period of time.
IndustryStandard ā¦sounds as if youāve already decided its not for you, but Live sounds exactly what you are looking for, and Iād say using it for recorded dj mixes is pretty much the simplest interpretation of itās use (no FX/plug-ins/racks etc.).
IndustryStandard Acid. Has lots of drawbacks, but will do what you have described no problem.
Unbroken1 What version do you use? Maybe the new GUI is more tio my liking. I had a āLiteā version I tried to get along with a few years back
The whole importing tracks and warping thing, moving beat markers etc was a right PITA on the version I used, plus massively complicated for what was essentially a pretty easy task ( on paper )

This is exactly what Iāve been wanting, canāt seem to find.
Bought something from the mixed in key crew but itās shite.
Be able to,
Listen
See bpm & key
Arrange tracks in sequence
A digital whiteboard for planning mixes
