Unbroken1 not at the moment mate, we’ve just bought a house in Whitley Bay and the upshot of it is - I would love the screen but I don’t use the streaming even on the XZ.
I loathe subscription services increasingly, of late, and I’m sure the costs to do it work out something like this.
- Rekordbox Subscription £17 (Core)
- Beatport Link (high quality) £29.99 per month
- Plus any other platform you want to stream from
Total cost can shoot over £50 per month easily for that and you own none of it. Its clever stuff, I’m just never going to stream in a club.
So as I wasn’t going to stream and the 3000 is still a good player (I suspect will be the most common player for a while) I figured having them hardware unlocks Rekordbox Performance mode for free, and my DDJ-XP1 (lighting control/effects) unlocks DVS, and RMX-500 works in the Send/Return in the back. The cost would have been approaching £300 per month instead of £160 for the X.
Furthermore what most people don’t know is that to use the RB-DMX1 for lighting synchronised , you normally have to DJ on a laptop - however the CDJ-3000 ethernet cabled to a laptop allows the laptop to sit in the distance (DJing from USB) and read the phrase from the 3000 which you can’t do on other kit. The lights automatically work well and I’m in control using the XP1.
RB-DMX1 is great for home or small venues but not clubs and I am not up for upgrading the lighting if I can help it.
I have ruminated on this for ages so glad to have made a decision that I can make changes to bit by bit.
I will defo miss the XZ and it’s simplicity setting up in different locations but I’m wanting something more capable / modular.
It will be living here once I’m finished with the room.
