I just think that with XZ being there this is useless. Will have to see if the price of XZ goes up. If indeed there will be a XZ2, with 4 decks from USB I reckon it will cost at least 3K.

Homegrove You might be right there like.

There’s usually a 3 year life cycle in terms of one product replacing a previous once with Pioneer, and the XZ came out November 2019 so let’s see if they release the XZ2 next year.

They don’t need to bother so fast if you ask me, the thing is in hot hot demand and always was from the outset. Even when up against Prime4.

The amount of bars and small clubs or club room 2s fitting the Pioneer XZ to save money is significant now. In comparison to RX1 and RX2 the sound quality is superior on big sound systems when you listen to the XZ.

The jogwheels on the first two RXs were also awful, this third version seems to have fixed those.

Homegrove They defo look better - but they still aren’t mechanical like CDJs and are capacitive - sensitive to touch.

I’m not a hip hop / scratch DJ so it doesn’t bother me much but I prefer the feel of the mechanical Jogs. You also get them on the DDJ-1000.

I’m a muppet in DJ terms and I notice the difference in the jogwheels - the XZ feels miles better. I’d also like a third deck - used to do that with Traktor, but only really for messing about.

…I like the idea of having a 3rd deck, but in reality would prob use it pretty infrequently- the rare occasion you need to cue a super-fast mix or the odd overdub/acapella. As G said, it was handy to have in Traktor but for me it’s no dealbreaker.

This is a typical (in terms of recent releases) Pio update. Marginal improvements for premium dollar. The XDJ-RX was their biggest seller, so they are prob banking on devotees upgrading without needing to learn a new workflow or drastically new/different features. The mixer section still looks like a toy to me, but its whatever you get used to I guess, I’ve seen people do quality mixes on streams with them…

Unbroken1 It’s funny how we pick up on things.

One of the things I suddenly realised when the XZ came out was how much I just like the channel LEDs on that compared with the RX and DDJ-1000.

But you only pick up on it when stood in front of them rather than watching instructional videos.

          4 days later

          Terrible for phasing….

Old-Dutch He spends to much time pretending to mix by knob twiddling? He has has a chisel problem?

Actually reminds me, been thinking of flogging my Mastersounds FX unit if anyone’s interested?

          Barely used, pretty much box-fresh.

…I do lover the rubberised black, but it picks up fingerprints like a MF’er.

The silver looks mighty fine, would be much nicer with the black alloy sides though.

Unbroken1 would be much nicer with the black alloy sides

            Can’t disagree there old bean

Got Tidal, so tried it with Rekordbox DJ. Holy shit it’s nice, lossless-streaming and all. Could be very tempted to stop buying music, if the XDJ 700s had full waveforms when used as Rekordbox DJ-controllers. But they do not, and I hate looking at the laptop all the time.
