Got Tidal, so tried it with Rekordbox DJ. Holy shit it’s nice, lossless-streaming and all. Could be very tempted to stop buying music, if the XDJ 700s had full waveforms when used as Rekordbox DJ-controllers. But they do not, and I hate looking at the laptop all the time.

Will cancel the trial, shame as having one solution for many use-cases is attractive. As is the sound quality.

Does anyone on here use a DMX lighting controller? I have a few DMX lights i’ve always used in auto mode, but been looking into getting a simple / easy to use DMX controller to get the lights in sync.

From what i’ve read learning DMX is akin to MIDI and a ball ache, so a bit apprehensive diving in TBH.

IndustryStandard regarding DMX - I’ve just bought an interesting bit of kit

Pioneer RB-DMX1

With my XZ I can DJ from a laptop and rekordbox has a lighting mode. This had a shit start in 2018 but by now most DMX lights work on it (and you can file a request with pioneer who add new lights within 14 days)

Where it gets interesting is CDJ-3000 have something in built that means you don’t need to DJ from a laptop - just have your laptop parked next to the lighting system plugged into the CDJs and it all works. Being new to lighting I tried this at progress:on and it was decent like. The potential exited me if I spent more time with it.

DMX is old and hateful. Genuinely hateful. But, if you have the instructions for the lights, you can set them up fairly easily. Plenty of laptop software out there for controlling them.

Was looking at SoundSwitch, but a lot seem overkill for what I really want. I only have a couple of effects and lasers I want to sync up. What about those Chauvert Obey consoles?

Mad_Cyril I saw that and was very excited given I have Philips Hue too, but you need the Denon mixer or a stand alone. I just have the SCD5000s. There is some workaround using a mixer in Midi mode and Soundswitch app ( I have a DB2 ) but haven’t gone down the wormhole yet.

The ADJ Go seems like an option I can setup on my Ipad, but hearing there might be some wifi issues with the product .
