You can’t put Chinese below anything other than possibly French, especially given 1) that it’s basically 8 cuisines (plus a whole load of minor ones) in one country and 2) Thai, Japanese and Korean derive so much influence and techniques from it.

Indian you could arguably put ‘above’ it, but not really Thai.

I’ve not been to China, but have travelled around both Thailand and Vietnam. However I get the impression London does have some have decent Chinese restaurants which I have eaten at - Sichuan Folk, My Old Place, Four Seasons, Pleasant Lady (jian bing stall), chilli cool, yauatcha, barshu, baoziln and if you include taiwanese then Bao and Ding Tai Fung. And a few of the places in China town I can’t remember as mostly ate their drunk. I realise that’s quite a few Chinese places which suggests I do like the food!!

On the Thai front the below are things I love eating. But even a decent Thai curry and pad Thai is a winner

Khua kling, pad kra pao gai, Som tam, Latin, gai yang, khoa soi

For Vietnamese it’s more basic as I love lots of varieties of pho, banh mi and bun cha.

However for both it’s the flavours that I prefer overal to Chinese. Nothing to do with how it’s cooked, technique, history etc.

As for tasteatlas, they’ve got the best Asian dishes as coming from the Philippines, so that just adds to how bad that list is that Zackster posted.

Dishes such as pad thai and pad kra pao are stir-fried, techniques introduced from China. So you might ‘prefer’ the Thai flavours, but you can’t really say their cuisine is ‘superior’ (hierarchically) when so many techniques were imported from China!

For Vietnamese it’s more basic as I love lots of varieties of pho, banh mi and bun cha.

Pho introduced to Vietnam as a rice noodle dish by Chinese migrants.

And a butty. Which apparently makes Vietnamese ‘superior’ to, say, Beijing Imperial Cuisine.
