All true, but not realistic. A lot of the owners of these dogs are hardly going to spend the time or effort in engaging with anything like this.

Old-Dutch Yeah, enforcement and legislation is the expensive part. I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about it and I just don’t see a simple solution to the problem. People are stupid, irresponsible, and selfish.

Old-Dutch I sort of don’t disagree, but where do you draw that line? It’s almost impossible to do, unless you’re just going to say no one can own a dog over 25 lbs (or some other arbitrary number). Even with something like that, how do you enforce that for a farmer with a Great Pyrenees or other large guardian dog with an actual job?

303abuser All comes down to your volley technique, I reckon anything much bigger than an angry Labrador and I would struggle to put my Air Max through it’s head / neck / legs / bollocks without some serious injuries to my self. Tricky as fuck issue, but those dogs that are built and bred to take down larger animals are terrifying, you know if they go for you your basically fucked. I once got into it with an Irish Wolfhound, glad it saw the error of it’s ways and fucked off.

Reckon your genuine working dogs could be means-tested… if only we had a government that invested in society… same should go for the twat panzers.

303abuser The root of the problem is irresponsible people and I think that’s the only way to deal with it. If you start banning breeds, where do you draw the line? Size doesn’t work, as your average Irish wolfhound as an example, is as gentle as a dog is going to be, while dachshunds and border collies bite like crazy. If you start banning breeds, define the line for me. I have a Doberman and she’s a softer dog than any of the schnauzers I’ve had.

This breed is clearly an outlier with an overclocked body and a tendency to go berserk with little or no warning. They’re a result of grotesque inbreeding and no amount of training will stop them going mad.

This, basically. Yes other dogs do bite, maim and kill, but if 75% of the deaths are attributed to this breed then ger rid.

It’s a predisposition brought out by inbreeding imo. The stats about these dogs are grim when compaired to any other breed.

Dogs should be given out based on the iQ of the owners . This would however rule out the whole of Manchester having dogs.

mono-stereo I agree it’s a problem, but how do you solve it? When you ban one breed, they’ll just start breeding large rotties. Ban them, they’ll move on to another breed. It’s a never ending cycle.
