Along_the_Wire Amps Sony are well behind the curve. They’re living off their brand and their history. A Sammy or an LG - they’re your choices. I bought a very expensive TV and went through the whole selection process - Sony is not at the races at all.
Amps Along_the_Wire Sony is not at the races at all. In what way? More details please. I have to say, knowing their build quality is a bit better and that I might get a few more years out of it does appeal at the moment.
Along_the_Wire Amps they’re behind in tech and they’re lumpy both financially and physically. I used to love Sony TVs, but they’ve been asleep at the wheel for some time

You are right though, I think it mostly boils down to the fact that they’re reliant on other companies for the panels. https://www.rtings.com/tv and the TV geek forum on https://www.avforums.com are both good places to do some research.
Kells77 Homegrove The last time I bought a tv was 6 years ago. Before that, 2011. I still have the one from 2011, but it’s small in comparison to what’s out there now (32inch), so that’s in my bedroom and my bigger, newer TV is the one I use most often.
Matt Every 5 to 7 years I’d guess. When I bought my OLED I moved the Panasonic plasma that had been downstairs into my dj/gaming room.
