Old-Dutch I’ll poison his Sanatogen before he even gets there
CJ recommends LG OLED TVs
Along_the_Wire Sony is not at the races at all.
In what way? More details please. I have to say, knowing their build quality is a bit better and that I might get a few more years out of it does appeal at the moment.
Amps they’re behind in tech and they’re lumpy both financially and physically. I used to love Sony TVs, but they’ve been asleep at the wheel for some time

Couldn’t help but read this in the voice of Partridge 😆 . You are right though, I think it mostly boils down to the fact that they’re reliant on other companies for the panels.
https://www.rtings.com/tv and the TV geek forum on https://www.avforums.com are both good places to do some research.
How often do you lot change TVs? I’m on my third in 20 years.
Homegrove The last time I bought a tv was 6 years ago. Before that, 2011. I still have the one from 2011, but it’s small in comparison to what’s out there now (32inch), so that’s in my bedroom and my bigger, newer TV is the one I use most often.
Every 5 to 7 years I’d guess. When I bought my OLED I moved the Panasonic plasma that had been downstairs into my dj/gaming room.
BF (RIP) would have been all over this thread!
Smallman1 Why did he go again? I keep forgetting.
Personally think the Samsungs look the absolute nuts
Amps And where is Presto?
Amps Brighton, about ten mins walk from my gaff.
vinnyt77 Has he abandoned us for any particular reason?
Amps Well it’s not because he’s got himself a girlfriend…
vinnyt77 get him involved Vin!
mono-stereo I will give him a nudge next time we see him.
In the market for a 50″(ish) TV. No gaming. Just streaming, sport and playing .mp4 files
Any recommendations please?
SM001 Nothing but love for our 55″ LG OLED CX. Coupla years old now, but still excellent. LG are continuing to improve the o/s as well.
Don’t think there’s much of a difference between the 2020 (CX) and 2021 (C1) models, so you could save yourself a few notes if you can track down last year’s…

You can’t go wrong with any of the latest offerings from LG or Samsung.
