Which colony/crown dependency has the shittest bands and singers?
The most embarrassing semi since I watched Brokeback Mountain round Millsy’s gaff.
ScottBailey To quote Ed, shut your whore mouth.
The hip were a fucking great band and Gord Downey was/is a national treasure.
That semi: more weeping Brazilians than at a clap clinic.

303abuser as sad a story as it was with Gord, I never have and never will get the music. Lord knows I heard enough of ot hanging out with Canadians for over a decade.
Much like Chas & Dave, national treasures. But lost on anyone who’s not a ‘local’
ScottBailey I’m sure that’s the case, they never hit outside Canada (maybe a small following in Buffalo, Detroit, New York, etc). I saw them probably a dozen times, grew up listening to them, and did 3 shows in 5 days on the last tour.
Those last shows had a feel and emotion to them that I don’t think is possible to replicate. It’s not often you get to see someone perform under those circumstances, on his way out and doing something he loved. Profoundly sad and magical at the same time.
We talking about Michael Hutchence here?
Who could forget Jagged Little Pill. That album was ubiquitous in the mid 90s. Fucking ironic
Well Australia gave us Nick Cave However also The Bee Gees
Canada gave us Neil Young But also Bryan Adams
Tough Call
ArchimedesQ If you don’t like night fever, I’m not sure we can be friends.
Not having the Bee Gees are shit.
The best bit is that it’s like a shit sandwhich because she’s married to Chad Kroeger - the lead singer of Nickleback.
ScottBailey If we’re not forgiving Canada for an artist/band, it’s The Tragically Shit
No one in this thread will know who they are with the exception of people who are either Canucks or have spent extended periods of time here.
I’m partial to a few of their songs like ‘Boots Or Hearts’ or ‘Bobcaygeon’, but other than that I never understood why everyone here seems to love them so much.
Millsy Canada gave the world Justin Bieber. Thanks Canada x
He’s from a city just north of mine and lives about fifteen minutes from my house. While I don’t really care for his music, he is talented and can play all sorts of different instruments, sing, etc.
bosstrabs When is Canadia going to apologise to the world for this?
We can’t. When they played The Grey Cup, the Canadian equivalent to The Super Bowl, they got booed by the entire 30,000 people in stadium the entire time they played - in their home province no less. Hilarious.
ScottBailey as sad a story as it was with Gord, I never have and never will get the music. Lord knows I heard enough of ot hanging out with Canadians for over a decade.
Yeah, like I said you’d need to basically have lived here for a long amount of time for them to be relevant - although I largely echo your sentiment.
loopdokter FFS. Did not know that. What a den of iniquity…
