I didnt read any of that, Hugo, as I didn’t bring my waders.
Top tunes that Rscouses loves
Like this track or not, but there’s plenty of Rap being knocked out today. Just very localized. I can tell you that when our DJ dude plays this on a packed night everyone goes bananas. Part of it being that people like seeing a local Oakland kid making a name for themselves and getting out of the ’hood. There’s pride in it, I guess.

Here’s what I gleaned from that.
Bitch
Nigger
Whore
Mother fucker
Oh and the obligatory gun references. Boring. Done to death.
That’s because you’re old. Like me. Not for you to “get.” But as expected from Jaded Clubbers. It is in the name, after all. A constant whine fest about anything and everything. Boring is right.

Age doesn’t come into it, I didn’t have a problem with NWA back in the day. At least theirs was making a statement. This is just mindless bile and the overuse of nigger whore and bitch is repugnant. The guy must be a polluted brain dead moron, it all makes me feel a bit sick.
Plus the actual music behind it is simplistic at best.
Dave just DM’d with “mate you need to share some machine gun Kelly in that thread”.

I actually avoided pretty much all the new rappers from 2010 onwards. The combination of autotune, the face tattoos, and the mumbling did nothing for me.
I’ve only started giving the new breed a go, and I’m quite impressed if I’m being honest. Can’t really listen to their stuff on a laptop on YouTube, need to have a proper sub woofer doing all the work for the bass. YG, Kid Cudi, Pusha T, Future, some of the Run The Jewels stuff.
Happy to back Hugo here too, The Weeknd is talented. Production is tight, and he’s got a solid voice. Maybe a tad bit cheesy but I’m ok with it.
Anyways here’s some balance for the old school - banger as always:
Also not having to pay 20 bucks for a cd and being able to stream through all the shite helps opening up horizons.

Thats exactly why I mentioned the accessible chart nonsense in my original post, J. I’m sure there’s a ton of good “unknown” rappers out there, just not the examples you or Hugo posted.
Dave with an exhaustive list of mid to late 90’s hip hop in 5,4,3…
Forgot to mention Anderson Paak’s Malibu album. BANGER.
New Danger Mouse + Black Thought album is solid. Favourite tune on it so far.
Dave will love it.
I don’t like the radio station JJJ here but sometimes you just can’t avoid it. It’s like radio one but much much worse . They’ve been playing lots of that Mickeymouse stuff.
Enjoying that Danger Mouse and Black Thought album Rhouses, very good.
I didn’t know at first where the vocal was taken from in this, but after looking it up I’d have thought @rhouses and @bosstrabs would be all over this. It even has a proper old-school prog-trance bassline and everything:
