Dubman zackster I rate really rate The Orb. Seen them live twice in the 90’s. I will admit some of their albums have been very hit’ n ’miss. I believe there doing a 30 year anniversary show of U.F Orb in the summer.
RichM Dubman just seen they are doing a tour this month. Kentish Forum on 25th I saw them at Royal Albert Hall in 1998. Was an epic gig, helped by some acid and getting stoned in the venue. Happy days
jonattonyeah zackster Fair enough. They did fit better under the umbrella of “soul/hip hop” rather than the broad “electronic dance music act.”
Smallman1 Looks like Zackster has ‘Reg of the Year’ sewn up. Some effort considering we’re only in June.
jonattonyeah Where does Fluke fit into all this? Never saw them live but they knocked out some decent enough tunes in their day.
alistair The Chems and Underworld are still going strong and releasing decent music while the others are either mothballed or reliving past glories from 30 years ago to ever diminishing returns. Their back catalogues and live performances are on another level to the others on that list (with the exception of Prodigy up to FOTL)
jonattonyeah alistair The best thing The Prodigy have put out in 20 years is that Christophe D’Abuc Climbatize bootleg thingy. Utter shambles post FOTL.
apyssjw alistair whether its any cop is subjective but mothballed is a little unfair on some of those names FSOL - release a new track every month (which compounds into their 12 track calendar albums at the end of each year) and have released 4 stand alone albums in the last two years. The Orb - Alex Patterson is releasing lots of material via his newish label. Leftfield - new album is finished release date tbc
jonattonyeah Dan “In October 1992, they pressed 500 white label copies [of Song of the Siren] and took them to various dance record shops around London, but none would play it, saying that it was too slow (the track played at 111 BPM). They sent a copy to London DJ Andrew Weatherall, who made it a permanent fixture in his DJ sets.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Song_to_the_Siren_(The_Chemical_Brothers_song)
Heno zackster not sure I’ve heard good things about them, weren’t the same after Geri left supposedly
