  • Chemical Brothers - Desert Island track

I have seen them live. It was beyond wank. Fucked off to see Speedy J demolish the techno tent after 15 minutes of Tom n Ed doing low pass filter sweeps and standing a still as statues.

zackster The hierarchy of live British dance act duos, from the golden age, is as follows:
    Underworld
    The Orb
    FSOL
    Orbital
    The Prodigy

    Basement Jaxx
    The Chemical Bros.

Without wishing to get too bogged down with the contents of your list, The Prodigy have to be no.1 (regardless of what happened after FotL).

Also, do you know what “duo” means?!

Saw the Chems do a dj set in the Courtyard for Cream. Played the David Holmes mix of Sabres of Paradise - scones

Full disclosure, I prefer the Chems in Dj mode.

Well that’s not exactly their fault. They seem like two dudes who like making music and putting on a fun visual show. They’re not releasing tracks ending racism or putting out dubstep ripoffs. They never feature in music videos, preferring to give directors a shot to make something interesting. They attempt collaborations that don’t always make sense (and don’t always work). They’ve been at it for like 30 years. I just don’t get the hate.

If we are going to get into the weeds, Autechre should be at the top of the list with the various Middleton/Prichard guises.

Yeah, seen the Chems live. They were alright but it was spoiled by being surrounded by aforementioned spengs.

Seems like a lot on here just don’t ever want to have fun.

      Live a little lads!

I was on a rooftop with my top off when I heard Hold Tight London for the 1st time. Nice piece of music. Cheers.

zackster If we’re going to get deeper the future sound of London were doing it well before every other man and his dog.

And 808 State. Still making music & touring

Pretty sure Muzilk interviewed the Chems and they cited Accelerator by FSOL & Orbital’s Brown album as major influences.

            Dan pretty unprofessional journalism

Looking forward to the Leftfield thread….

bosstrabs They used to open with Loops, absolute mayhem from the word go. Love it!

                From Wikipedia

During the 1980s, members of the moderate wing of the British Conservative Party who opposed some of the more hard-line prog of Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and listened to the Chemical Brothers were often referred to by their opponents as “wets”.
