  • The whole energy crisis thing

Amps luckily the French company building it had to pay for the complications, instead of the tax payers here. It was a settled sum when Finland bought it from Areva. I think it beat the new Berlin airport with a couple of years. That was really late too.

I checked, Berlin’s new airport was 9 years late.

Blame the new world wide army of “project managers”

“A one-off rise to energy bills of up to £17 a year to help prevent suppliers going bust is being considered by the UK’s energy watchdog.”

I’m not sure how these companies are coping at this difficult time, the shareholders mental health must really be taking a hit

Hursty and miss out on the frisson of excitement when submitting my meter readings? No thanks!

Hursty Everyone happy still paying way over the wholesale price for gas and electric?

      Is it cheaper at Costco?

Mad_Cyril unfortunately not but it’s obscenely cheaper on the open wholesale market for energy companies and has been for a while

Hursty avoiding smart meters like the plague. Might go full Flares style and get a pay key for the Londis.

Millsy I saw an article saying some so-called smart meters may lose their smart capability when 2g/3g networks are turned off

Do you have a trust issue with them or just concerned that the tech is shit?

Hursty both mate. Would they make any difference to my family energy consumption? I very much doubt it. They will be compulsory soon, but I’m in no rush.

Out of interest, what’s everyone’s current monthly gas and leccy bill? I’m on about £270 which is a lot less than a few months back but still wank.

180 every two months for leccy and about 40 per month for oil. i do live on my own though

200pcm for gas and electric here. Was 80pcm in 2020 for context.

Provider wants to drop that to 130pcm based on usage but I’ll prob leave as is, it soon gets eaten up in winter
