  • THE 10 BEST MID-90S PROGRESSIVE HOUSE TRACKS

The absence of a Rollo track is just…just…
(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

Love it/ Loathe it- I’d have to have State of Grace on that list…

to be fair the lad that penned this looks about 12. It would be like me doing review of the best skiffle tracks of 1960.

Crescendo is a cracking tune.

Fond memories of getting stoned with my mates with that spinning on the 1210s.

Don’t worry Blain, someone will be along to post something from 1999 in a minute, inevitable.

And it will be something absolutely gash like Trancesetters Roaches

    Mongoose.

Even though it was released in a different decade.

Smallman1 It’s a techy track with a funk riff with scatterings of ARP melodies…hardly progressive.

      Think harder, Ed.

      Leftfield - Song of Life

Does it have to be progressive house? A lot of these are more progressive trance.

MIxmag would frankly post any old shite to try and stay relevant.

hugopal Progressive is a faintly ludicrous term anyway, if we’re honest.

Should really just be ‘house’ or ‘trance’.

Or, of course, JACKHAMMER PROG which is a truly transcendental genre.

bosstrabs ..absolutely, never liked the term, was always associated with the pretentious and grandiose (which to be fair, it did become for a while).

The annoying thing was, at the time that the original Mixmag article came out that named it, there was something interesting and unique going-on, and that mixture of US dubs, tribal, and percussive house starting to come out of the UK was definitely becoming a thing in it’s own right, just a shame they decided to give it a shit name.

Also, I’d agree with hugopal, a lot of the music that people associate with ‘prog’ came later on and had way more in common with euro trance.
