Its shocking at the moment. Really bad. Has been for quite a while if you ask me

Some absolutely boss garage out this year.

Homegrove When Covid hit producers/DJ’s were in the studio all the time which is why we had a year or 2 of an abundance of great tunes.

nicksneddon I’ve fairly much given up on Traxsource/Beatport at el, Bandcamp however is a goldmine

SM001 pity so little of that good music made it on to a dancefloor.

ScottBailey looking forward to it mate. i am not nearly so discerning and am still randomly acquiring tracks like a crack addict fumbling for a fix ! There is the odd nugget in there but agree that in the main there is dross, which is why i have delved into the darker side with the dub techno thing - which is so different that more tracks seem fresher to me than in the prog/techno space.

On an average month I buy about 70-80 tunes. I did my monthly back up (copy everything to two separate external hard drives) yesterday, and August I had bought 29 tunes.

Im seriously considering moving onto one of the subscription services for a monthly fee. Anything decent I tend to buy on vinyl anyway and given a lot of the tracks i buy dont seem to stand the test of time/are much kop I may just sack off buying digital tracks. Only bummer with that is losing my Itunes playlist management if I move onto say Beatport subscription

Homegrove Not getting that vibe at all, but I know I play a lot more melodic / Italo than most on here. Just got to keep hunting, there is good stuff out there.

Whatever “prog” is actually called these days is boring imo. 95% of the prog/breaks tracks in the last year are also boring.

        Dan

I’m the same , can’t imagine how much shit would be in that amount every month.
Nowadays I will listen to a track maybe 5 or 6 times to double make sure I want it. Some months I’ll only buy 3 or 4. I still buy vinyl but only older stuff filling in gaps and even then that will get sent to my mums to go into the vault.

Dan it’s an addiction. Vinyl days I got about 30 new records every month. That was a lot more money than a good month for me now. 😂

Be more selective Hanners ffs. Pull yourself together.

…I always buy a lot more than I play, and there are generally only a handful of those that I mix with that will make it to the ‘keepers’ folder, but I think that’s one of the luxuries of digital formats.

Being much more selective in the first place isn’t really a solution though… sometimes I’ll sit on things for a while that I’ve thought were meh the first few listens, then decide that they are fucking genius when I’ve lived with them a while (or heard somebody else play!). More often than not, these are the ones that are the keepers too.

Homegrove well, progressive house music is a bit like the history of the Tottenham
