Not much around is there? Or am I just missing it? Feels like there are very little big tracks, or mixes around. I deleted old stuff from my “current” playlist on Rekordbox and Traktor this morning, and it’s usually about 120 tracks long playlist. It’s today 46 tracks.

I really hope it’s just me.

Homegrove I’ve been thinking this for a few years (at least) now. Beatport and alike are saturated with mediocre (at best) music these days. A lot of out of tune vocals, no good melodies, bleeps and clicks that sound horrible, very little groove. Takes me a few months just to get enough tracks together to make an hour long mix that I’m happy with. I’ve also felt that I’m been dragged into buying a load pf bang average stuff that on second listen I wonder why I bought it in the first place. Starting to put it down to desperation of feeling like I’ve got nothing new to play.

That being said, I’ve just recorded a new mix that’ll be going out at the end of September that I’m happy with. Was like pulling teeth trying to put it together though!

Start of the pandemic all streams were seemingly full of great music. So for me this seems like a recent issue.

It goes like this every so often. Loads of great music about on promo at the moment, so the drought won’t last long

It’s been pretty poor year for albums also apart from Awe kid’s - Body Logic

New Daphni and Daniel Avery albums should be good based on the pre releases

This is the 1st proper summer where Covid hasn’t been an issue. I’m guessing most producers have been gigging over the past several months and haven’t been in the studio much?

Im not quite on the same wavelength musically as a lot of people on here, however Ive had the same problem for years now. I just play the Traxsource 100 while im pottering around the flat and Im lucky if 1 or 2 releases grab me. even the DJ top 10s are slim picking nowadays

On the other hand Im finding Bandcamp a lot more useful especially if im after older stuff – I managed to blag the whole Flapjack records back catalogue ( 114 releases ) last night for about 60 sheets which should keep me busy for a long while

Its shocking at the moment. Really bad. Has been for quite a while if you ask me

Some absolutely boss garage out this year.

Homegrove When Covid hit producers/DJ’s were in the studio all the time which is why we had a year or 2 of an abundance of great tunes.

nicksneddon I’ve fairly much given up on Traxsource/Beatport at el, Bandcamp however is a goldmine

SM001 pity so little of that good music made it on to a dancefloor.

ScottBailey looking forward to it mate. i am not nearly so discerning and am still randomly acquiring tracks like a crack addict fumbling for a fix ! There is the odd nugget in there but agree that in the main there is dross, which is why i have delved into the darker side with the dub techno thing - which is so different that more tracks seem fresher to me than in the prog/techno space.

On an average month I buy about 70-80 tunes. I did my monthly back up (copy everything to two separate external hard drives) yesterday, and August I had bought 29 tunes.

Im seriously considering moving onto one of the subscription services for a monthly fee. Anything decent I tend to buy on vinyl anyway and given a lot of the tracks i buy dont seem to stand the test of time/are much kop I may just sack off buying digital tracks. Only bummer with that is losing my Itunes playlist management if I move onto say Beatport subscription

Homegrove Not getting that vibe at all, but I know I play a lot more melodic / Italo than most on here. Just got to keep hunting, there is good stuff out there.
