Jules72 so the unbeaten run has been against lots of Latin teams (Bolivia, Ecuador etc)…. Hardly any European ones… I wouldn’t read too much into the unbeaten run…
- I didn’t say anything about the unbeaten run. I did tacitly suggest tournament winning ‘minerals’.
Jules72 having said that, there’s no single outstanding team at this tournament - any of 5-10 countries can win it imo (including Argentina)
- Actually it always seems that way going into a World Cup. It’s only in hindsight that it seems ‘obvious’ a particular team would won. Example: West Germany were 5th favourites going into the 1990 World Cup, behind Italy (the hosts), Brazil, Holland (having won Euro 88) and Argentina (the reigning champions).
It was only after they hammered Yugoslavia 4-1 in their opening game while Holland and Argentina laboured through their groups that people started to say they were the obvious contenders.
