Along_the_Wire vinnyt77 Al Mourjan lounge in DOH is awesome - one of the best. Yeah, pretty amazing experience that.
Along_the_Wire I’ve had a nightmare with flights - been up to see my dad in Scotland - 5 hour delay on the way up Sunday and then cancelled twice on Sunday and had to stay overnight to fly this morning. I’m on the plane, but even that’s in doubt. Freezing temperatures really shouldn’t be a problem these days.
Mad_Cyril Along_the_Wire When we came back from Copenhagen last year they just sprayed the fucker with de-icer and off we flew. Safe trip. Enjoy the cup of tea and biscuits.
Dubman Mad_Cyril Happened to me once when I was flying to Nepal a few years ago at Istanbul airport. It was snowing . They just sprayed the wings and we went.
seanc80 I don’t think you were in any danger MC. If, for example, the wing engine failed, the plane could still quite easily be glided home using the endless reels of flannel being somehow generated from your mouth.
Mad_Cyril seanc80 This is a fair point, thanks for bringing to my attention Sean. Look forward to your funny pic off the Google in 5 days or so
Smallman1 seanc80 If, for example, the wing engine failed, the plane could still quite easily be glided home using the endless reels of flannel being somehow generated from your mouth. Lol!
LT42 Take off is never an issue in bad conditions, the issue is always landing and the conditions at destination. Go-Arounds and low-vis conditons stack planes in holding patterns and it slows the whole process down. With the amount of planes in the air nowadays we can expect Winter conditions to cause consistent delays in the future. Welcome to hell.
bosstrabs I liked Sean’s latest one about the blokes in the bar with an agenda, that had already been all over the place weeks ago.
LT42 LT42 (More Detail) - de-icing systems are normally used by the crew if the OAT or Outside Air Temp is 10c or below and there is moisture in the air. De-icing spray is used when ice is forming on the leading edges or engine cowls. A piece of ice breaking off and entering the engine shaft could cause a burnout or damage to the engine. Cancellations normally occur when there is ice around runways, taxiways, aprons and or visibility is down to 100ft with crosswinds.
seanc80 Given the content in the funny pics thread i thought i had at least 8 years before it was deemed old.
Mad_Cyril Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.
bosstrabs Cue Hugo writing a three paragraph explanation about how you wouldn’t need any ‘flannel’ to glide a plane, and if anything it would actually impede the pilot’s ability to control the plane.
bosstrabs Mad_Cyril Can’t hear you too well Sean, the line is a bit crackly. Are you calling from 1985? The line is a bit crackly because it’s air traffic control radio and he’s a CAPTAIN.
