It’s funny because up until now I always just assumed Uncle Ben was a real man, making industrial amounts of rice in a giant super cauldron somewhere near Texas.

I now realise that this is unlikely.

    Any Rugby fans out there?

Swing low, Sweet chariot song to be banned by RFU due to ties to slavery.

    Lol!

Hursty Its ties? It’s a slaves’ song and a lot of people have always been uncomfortable about it.

Hilarious, a whole stadium of white toffs singing a slave song to fire up the team during difficult moments in a match. If any of the black players were aware of it then it just goes to show what they’ve been living through. Strange times.

I watched the parliamentary debate on the effects of Covid on BAME communities yesterday on bbc parliament.

If reading out virtue-signalling platitudes was an effective solution to racism it would be completely eradicated after that “debate”.

        What an absolute sham.

C_J I’m sure. Did every speaker start with the line “What we need is…” whilst wagging a finger in several directions?

At one point some SNP SMP proudly declared she’d registered her constituency office as a 3rd party hate crime reporting centre because “often Black people don’t realise they’ve been a victim of a crime and it was up to others to report it.”

            🤭

LT42 no, there wasn’t any practical considerations in terms of what was needed. It was more things like “we stand shoulder to shoulder with the black community” and “there is no place for racism of any kind”.

              mono-stereo
              Likewise.

I always hold up Uncle Ben and The Man from Del Monte as examples of what you can achieve if you work hard to my daughter.

              Proper grafters

C_J ahh, forward thinking rhetoric. Wonderful.

The Dolmio family are next in the line of fire due to racist connotations to the Italian community.

Smallman1 Certainly a good look to aim for. In reality I suspect you end up looking more like Dickie Bird.
