Is there even a country or civilisation that has ever existed which hasn’t done some questionable stuff (especially by modern standards)?

    As for the original video in this thread we shouldn’t be too critical of those involved, getting someone to bend down on their knees to kiss your boots is a mark of equality and respect in some cultures.

    As far as I’m concerned History is there as a lesson for you to make up your own judgements regarding you moral compass and prejudices.
    Luckily most people acknowledge that we were barbaric killers regardless of race or colour and have moved on.
    I think more emphasis on the brutality of colonialism needs to taught in schools as a lesson as we generally learnt about how good we were at war, not the downsides.

    Hursty Certainly is, It seems there are lots of people about these days who seem to get some sort of satisfaction out of being shamed and made to feel guilty about things that have absolutely fuck all to do with them.

      My question still stands, are we going to go full tilt at this now, like Alex Scott presenting Super Sunday level of full tilt, just to try to appease those who think that the white man has had it his own way for far too long?

      The treatment of the african nations back then and of people of colour during years past has been absolutely horrific, even barbaric in a lot of circumstances. I have so much sympathy and sorrow for what went on. I am embarrassed about how they were classed in society for so many years.

      Am i going to live the rest of my life as an apologist for the behaviour of people i never knew or had any sort of control over their behaviour or actions? Am i fuck.

      I think we are heading into extremely dangerous times. I don’t mean solely because of BLM. I think the generations coming through now seem to have a massive sense of entitlement chipped into their shoulders and the likelihood of more and more conflict with older generations is only going to increase.

        Do the Germans let the Nazi era shame them and hold them back? No they don’t, they accept and acknowledge it and move on. They are now world beaters in many areas of modern human life, whether that’s sport, industry or techno 😎

          I would say most BLM supporters just want a level playing field, now and in the future.

          It’s as simple as that really.
