  • House music feat electric guitar which isn't shit?

alistair Was just coming to post that. Fucking loved it when released. Can barely listen to it now…

This is one for sure. The original white label with the banned ELO sample was really really rare. Then some cunt bootlegged the bootleg and it came out looking exactly the same. To the point where fuckers can’t tell the difference. I only know mine is original because I had it way before the bootlegs.
Hardkiss couldn’t get ELO to agree so on the release they had to copy it with their own guitar riff and it took forever to sort which led to nearly 2 years before it came out and obvs by then things had moved on and nobody wanted the version that Sasha and diggers had been playing for years anyway.

Wheel out the pouch, there’s some mums to entertain

Phil-McRackin If we are allowed a bit of breaks then…

Even if you were allowed breaks, the brief was “which isn’t shit” - I don’t think a tune with the line “Aquaman knows what to do” falls in to that classification!

Smallman1 Have we just gone into the weeds?!

A simple one sentence criticism is just a simple one sentence criticism - if you find such a thing dense and difficult to navigate (as going “into the weeds” would imply) then you must have the mental capacity of a flea.

        I don’t give a shit that it’s cheese. It was a belter.

          WE’VE GONE INTO THE WEEDS!

          Cankles-McJeggings …really good shout!

I have the white with the ‘Fire on High’ sample, it was one of the o/g one’s too, the pressing was super-loud… also remember being reet pissed off when those booties appeared. Need to dig this one out.

Only other similar instance of this I can remember was Havana’s ‘Ethnic Prayer’ which sampled Tears for Fears ‘Change’. Lawyers caught up with them between the record being promo’d and the official release, which had a replay of the synth riff and was SHIT in comparison. They inevitably eventually bootlegged the promo version.
Thankfully Zoom where I did all my record shopping in those days used to get all the 23rd Precinct/Limbo whites so that’s a treasured one too.

This is one of the things I miss about the vinyl days, chasing secret weapons like this that so few had access to.

I was going to post that but thought I’d leave it to someone else.

hugopal true, the vocal is fucking appalling. Think I’d blocked that out when I thought of it to be honest.

Dan Sure, but it’s not a disco/r&b thread (where electric guitar is ubiquitous)

alistair Prefer the Justin Robertson mix. He signed my 12″ when we booked him a few years ago.

Good to hear, always comes across well I must say.

What about your records? Did he sign any of those?

                Where’s Hugo to explain this?

Is that the version on the final release in the YouTube clip? I’m pretty sure I’ve only got the final release but do have some limbo promos so not certain. Wish you’d posted that a few days back as I’m now back in Oz 12000 miles away from my records again 🤣
