IndustryStandard I used to go to vinyl rhythm from about 93-94. I knew one of the blokes that helped fund it, sounded like they just couldn’t afford to keep it going by the time it closed.

I think it was Ian Wright, Dave Valentine and Joe Morena.

Dan We used to put on events at Chelmsford City FC Social club ( under the main stand ) from around 89-92. Did loads. By the summer of ’92 we’d teamed up with the Rainsford lot and were doing bigger parties at the Town/Shire Hall, up the top of the high street. Nice venue that. Plus a few at the YMCA. Proper DIY vibe. Everyone going potty…..all died down once we started going out in London and we all went off to Uni. Halcyon days !

IndustryStandard Mate I was probably at them! Best thing Chelmsford ever had was Barhouse/Hooga….proper messy.

I used to live 5 minutes from the venue and you’d walk in some nights and they’d have Melle Mel, Konrad Black, Jimpster and Juan Atkins. Nuts.

IndustryStandard the guys from the market (think they were both called andy), then opened a shop for a few months just along from Judge Tindles and branched out big time from the stall. Vinyl Rhythm then opened opposite the bus station originally then moved to the corner near zeus.

I was similar going to the market stall, but then used to also jump on the train to romford to go to Boogie Times most saturday mornings. no way would I let a 14-15 year jump on train by themselves to go to romford of all places

Christian forgot it was initially opposite the bus station. Near the legendary Kebabary …..lunch time donner for 90p ! lol

…my mate is having his 50th in Chelmsford in Jan so will visit the old place then. Last time I was there was for his 40th! Wondering if they have changed the decor and the menu in the Ship from when I left in 1992…….probably not.

seanc80 top notch from start to finish, he never bettered it

seanc80 the “women have no feelings” bit is one of the best stand up-routines ever.

Christian Dan who owned Boogie times is absolutely rolling in it nowadays. Classic Euphoria etc all his concept. He turned up to one of our gigs in a yellow Lamborghini.

Christian I used to play upstairs in the Prince of Orange on a Friday night with Keith Elderfield… He was doing it for peanuts and playing Basics on the Saturday…. proper Legend RIP.

Dan out paths must of passed as I used to go all the time for Knuck and Maff. I ended up playing there once by myself when everyone was at bday at the other end of moulsham street

Mods can we get a new thread for whatever this one has turned into.

I’ll take a 6 pager logged in the spreadsheet but I can’t say I have a clue as to what is going on.

Is there anywhere this documentary can be watched online for those that do not have Sky?
