jonattonyeah alistair Agreed. Hurt never quite had that truely iconic role like a Scarface or a Raging Bull or a One Flew. He just nailed part after part after part. Broadcast News is an incredible film but it’s not exactly in the zeitgeist when people bring up ’80’s movies.
alistair jonattonyeah for once, the Oscars called it right. Got three successive best actor noms in the mid to late 80’s which is going some
Smallman1 jonattonyeah Broadcast News is an incredible film but it’s not exactly in the zeitgeist when people bring up ’80’s movies. Probably because Commando blew it out the water.
jonattonyeah Smallman1 That’s not fair to William Hurt. Commando and Cobra are masterpieces. That’s like getting angry at a basketball player for not being Michael Jordan.
jonattonyeah Smallman1 It’s not good but also perfect. Whoever edited the fucking thing did a terrible job. The story makes absolutely no sense. Stallone mumbles through the entire thing. It’s one of my favs.
BlainSA jonattonyeah Going off those clips it does look like one of those films that could be so shit it’s great. Arnie definitely won the Arnie Vs Stallone thing in the 80s though.
jonattonyeah zackster 2005 was without a doubt the basement for the Oscars and that’s really saying something.
jonattonyeah Dan The entire thing is great. This part in particular where the mic is so unbelievably obvious when he rips the shirt. Not just once, but twice.
zackster The most under appreciated aspect of Cobra is that he constantly puts a gun he’s just fired into his waistband against his dick.
Smallman1 zackster Always liked that he hides his gun cleaning kit for absolutely no reason. Made me laugh!
zackster Damn. Scott Hall aka Razor Ramon is being taken off of life support. Was absolutely obsessed with him as a kid. Fantastic talent. 😭
jonattonyeah zackster Was never a WWF guy but had a friend who was super into it. He was very funny so it made it funny. Razor Ramon was always amusing. Going full disc 2. Love it.
