zackster Not the best movie ever, but it doesn’t pretend to be

The hype machine at the time would beg to differ. Remember people saying Sly should’ve got an Oscar because he ate a load of pies for the role.

It’s a wholly disappointing film given the ingredients.

On a forum populated by adult men queuing up for Eternals 2, dressed in full regalia, I think it is a bit silly to debate the quality of films like Heat and Cop Land.

jonattonyeah The Moby soundtrack is pretty cheesy.

I’ve seen you post this before and it’s a strange take. There’s 2 Moby tracks on a 21 track score. One of which (New Dawn Fades) is actually a New Order cover. God Moving over the face of Waters is his only track on there and its a brilliant fit for the ending. It’s really an Elliot Goldenthal soundtrack and its up there for me.

Agreed. I am no Moby fan, but I absolutely love the Heat soundtrack.

zackster yeah the atmospheric stuff on there is great, like this one

The Terje Rypdal stuff on there is class too

Agreed. It makes the movie unique for the genre and is part of why I said I think it gets better with age.

I also like that they cut all the scene of Al railing lines because its more fun to think he is just some super insane guy.

Maybe it’s just that iconic last scene that sticks in my head. RETRACTED COMMENT!

For me, the bottom line re: Heat is this: Michael Mann only makes BANGERS.

This is a gen awesome story. Probably the first movie I saw Ray in too.

        Homegrove

The movie. Which I’m pretty sure is just outright bad. But the stories of a coked out Colin driving Foxx ’round the bend are great. Foxx refused to film the last scene as they all almost got kidnapped in the DR. The era Colin filming in Miami….bad idea.

jonattonyeah the stories of a coked out Colin driving Foxx ’round the bend are great

Farrell said he was so out of his mind during filming he watched the premiere wondering what would happen next

Damn. Dave Smith of Sequential Circuits fame has died. His synths undeniably shaped all of our collective love for music. RIP to a real one.
