Damn. Dave Smith of Sequential Circuits fame has died. His synths undeniably shaped all of our collective love for music. RIP to a real one.

Just saw that, I wonder if that’s why he sold recently. It’s been a tough week for synth heads. RIP Dave Smith.

Did a google search for Dave Smith.

    Many of those!

303abuser it looks like he might have passed away at Movement in Detroit. Think I saw Carl Craig or Kenny Larkin post something to that effect.

zackster That sucks, but somehow fitting maybe. His direct influence on electronic music really can’t be overstated.

Great tribute to Liotta from Scorsese in the grauniad

Julee Cruise, known best for her work with Angelo Badalamenti on the Twin Peaks-soundtrack has died.

      • Dan replied to this.

An absolute tune. As David put it, her voice sounded like a dream. RIP

Gutted. This was boss. Still sounds fresh as fuck.

Going to watch episode 7 of season 2 now to pay her respects. It’s my favorite episode after the pilot, so it’ll be a pleasure.

I really really wanted to enjoy Twin Peaks but I simply couldn’t get past the first few episodes of season 2. Couldn’t tell you what on earth was going on. I remember reading the plot on Wikipedia and getting confused, and that was a summary. Maybe I’ll try again one day.

Anyway, RIP to Julee Cruise….Falling is a great tune

gcw I really really wanted to enjoy Twin Peaks but I simply couldn’t get past the first few episodes of season 2.

It does sag at times around the half-way stage of season 2 (with Lynch not actually directing many of those episodes), though the last couple of episodes make up for the perseverance.

Plus the 3rd season which came out a few years ago was absolutely sensational. Truly a tour de force. It’s worth slogging through the old season 2 for. Some of the most extraordinary scenes committed to screen.

Amps ha, I hadn’t realised that was who did the vocals. Cool.

Season 3 is the greatest prestige tv show of all time. And it has aged fantastically. Just recently started a rewatch and I am more dialed in than ever. The Mitchum Bros are such wonderful characters.

Once I’ve got a TV good enough to do it justice then season 3 is def getting a rewatch from me as well.
