303abuser We have access to all of the information and technology we need to be abundantly successful, but social media and corporate greed seem to be working very effectively in the opposite direction.

An interesting point, and one addressed by Yuval Noah Harari in his latest book Nexus.

I won’t attempt to do justice to his thinking here, other than to mention it’s apparently to do with how an increase in the amount of information in a network can often lead to worse outcomes due to a disruption in the balance between “truth” (an accurate representation of reality) and “order” (a stable social structure).

Or something.

    Smallman1 Someone’s getting an invite!

What’s the most grimly depressing thing on Jaded Clubbers?

    1. Hugo attempting a bants
    2. Homegrove upbraiding someone for being anti-trans
    3. When you see Amps has posted more Twitter bilge?

    Genuinely not sure.

It’s hardly innovative thinking is it? Just look at the bilge Twitter creates amongst the BERKS!

C_J Haven’t read that particular book, but I’m generally aligned with him on this stuff. I think AI is much more likely to be a threat than a savior, for example.

Does Hannu live in a forest

    Hannu is an ewok

Millsy perhaps if you posted your comments alongside a pic of some double D dirtbox you’ll get more agreement?

Could be a strategy, but every thread would have to be NSFW.

Millsy Hannu is a bald ewok

      Fixed.

Hursty Does sound like pure hyperbole to scare the masses

      Then you’re not paying attention.

        Hey, I’m not THAT short!

Amps I find living somewhere blanketed in wild fire smoke for half the summer every year now makes it more difficult to ignore.

303abuser Unfortunately, half the population of this planet is devoid of imagination and empathy, and therefore they are unable to walk in someone else’s shoes even for a minute. Until it happens to them, they won’t lift a finger. See the snooker fans etc.

Amps A proper collapse of the Atlantic Ocean currents should solve that problem. The UK might look like the arctic circle.

Amps and 303 have teamed to make up an unimaginably horrific duo.

            Me and BF they aren’t!

Smallman1 Amps and 303 have teamed to make up an unimaginably horrific duo.

Silver-lining is they’ve both agreed to take themselves out the gene pool.

JFK and MLK files to be released I’m sure msm will find a way to turn that into a negative.
