      Exactly. There are definite influences in todays tracks for sure. And attempts to keep the sound/genre alive which has unfortunately spawned new genres and the kind of shite you hear the likes of Cattaneo and Warren playing.

        Sasha could provide ‘the journey’. Cattaneo, despite having 60% the same bag of records, couldn’t provide ‘the journey’.

        Oakenfold, at his peak, couldn’t mix properly but could still provide ‘the journey’.

          Fucking hell just cringed at the thought of me describing the genre to innocent bystanders circa 2002-2007 with the word ‘journeyesque’.

            apyssjw Flo Masse basically plays her Uncle’s old records.

                Some of the bangers Perel puts in her sets definitely sounds like it was heavily influenced by old school tune age - hook recordings and their trancier sound comes to mind - some stuff almost sounds like repurposed happy hardcore - not the golden age of prog but still kinda refreshing when so much stuff takes itself way too seriously these days.

                rhouses ‘Music that stimulates the mind as well as the heart’ was my own ultra wanky way of describing things back in the day.

                    Wally My favourite was some skinny, speccy bloke in Renaissance Nottingham (I think the club was called Media) who looked madoutofit, bouncing off the walls, when we asked what he was on he said “just high on the music, mate”.

                        bosstrabs Hmm, Sasha was mini journey Vs Digweed’s mega journey in my humble.

                          My point, albeit brief, was that Prog fans spout an awful lot of shite about ‘the journey’.

                            Mad_Cyril Indeed. The last time a a Sasha set took me “on a journey” were in the mid 90s when he was playing half of Ima in them.

                              I rather enjoyed his Emfire sets at MOS.
