jonattonyeah Echo Lee Coombs put out some absolute bangers in his day. DJ’d a friend’s house party (KLANG) and had the place going bananas. EDIT monster
BlainSA jonattonyeah Lee Coombs was a breaks god. Had a ton of his releases and booties. Could do a whole thread on him alone for sure.
alistair BlainSA Not so much a scene, but there are still some good breaks records around. Check out the new Lone album. I am a fan of Kohra too
BlainSA alistair Correct. There are now, which is why we have this thread, but for a long time it was just dreadful, bar the rare record. Blame the electro house from that period for taking away so many spirited producers into making utter dirge.
alistair BlainSA you’re right mate, although the thread is always on the brink of turning into a nostalgia fest.
bosstrabs Serious question: Has anyone ever tolerated a ‘breaks’ room or dj set for more than 1 hour without getting totally bored?
RichM bosstrabs used to love a breaks night, but was always a great second room sound, to mix things up with some tops off prog in the main room.
smashdad bosstrabs Yup. Every month for about three years I’d listen to Howells/Thompson warm up Heaven’s main room and then fuck off upstairs to the Star Bar when Digweed came on.
bosstrabs Smallman1 But that was probably to escape your braying, moronic Rupert mates, so it’s understandable. I’d find three hours of Plump DJs preferable to a bunch of Chiswick spackers.
