As for Villalobos, I met my nephew for a few drinks in Hoxton and after we few we both felt the urge to carry on. Went to fabric blind and then realised it was Villalobos playing. I was a bit disappointed as most of his productions are not my thing and the sets I’ve heard have not lasted long before I turned them off, but thought fuck it as I wasn’t going to get the opportunity with my nephew like that again for some time and could always try the other rooms.
Got to room 1 and it was rammed. Villalobos was cutting stuff over the top that didn’t match at all. One minute it was pounding techno, then it was funky house…Reminded me of when I first started DJing. However, the vibe on the dancefloor was electric. I stuck it out and then it just sort of clicked. Really enjoyed it.
Some other very important info - a guy was getting a handy by some bird at the front of the booth. Eyes were almost popping out of his head staring at the ceiling.
