RichM Personally I think they should relabel the brand to focus on the newer crowd and should closed the GU label a while ago to capture the time period. And create a new brand for this generations crowd to own and love.
Would people really care about a new compilation brand though? With mixes so readily available online it’s surely already an uphill battle to get people to pay money for a mix compilation. Plus it’s also probably more difficult now to get a DJ to put extra effort in to such a compilation when they also have so many other ways to showcase themselves than just CDs and an occasional ‘Essential Mix’.
At least GU still has a bit of historical cache and brand recognition that might encourage potential customers to pay a bit more attention, and also hopefully get the DJs to devote a bit of energy in to making it special (though the Lens one felt like a below-par promo teaser from her).
