“Dazed & Confused” and “Singles” are obvious ones (too obvious), but half-watched “Adventureland” (bombed out of my mind) last night after work while doing other things. Was taken aback at how good the soundtrack is. Excellent all around. Will try to think of more favs, but what you all got? And I mean like “soundtrack” not film “score.”

1 Lou Reed - Satellite Of Love
2 David Bowie - Modern Love
3 Big Star - I’m In Love With A Girl
4 The Cure - Just Like Heaven
5 Falco - Rock Me Amadeus
6 INXS - Don’t Change
7 The Outfield - Your Love
8 Crowded House - Don’t Dream It’s Over
9 New York Dolls - Looking For A Kiss
10 Husker Du - Don’t Want To Know If You Are Lonely
11 The Replacements - Unsatisfied
12 Velvet Underground - Pale Blue Eyes
13 Yo La Tengo - Farewell Adventureland
14 Unknown Artist - Adventureland Theme Song

Damn…..I’m sad that you leave out film score, because I really like and often listen to the Black Panther score/soundtrack.

For others though, I don’t really pay that much attention to movie soundtracks I guess. The only one I can think of that I took any particular interest in is Spawn back in the day, which had cool soundtrack for that time period, but the movie was awful.

If you want to throw in score, that’s fine. I guess I just think there’s something special about a soundtrack; why the songs were selected/curated; how they further the narrative or the vibe of the film; how they can date or make a movie timeless; how, in the case of “Singles”, they can even overshadow the film itself.

For score, despite it being maligned at the time, I love Moroder’s “Scarface” score. It just stinks of Miami, cocaine, and the 80’s. Love it.

3 that spring to mind are..
      Natural born killers
      24hr party people
      Monsters - Jon Hopkins

Hard to pick just one so throwing these in to piss Dave off.

      The Thing
      Manhunter
      Last of the Mohicans
      Bladerunner
The good, the bad and the ugly
      The Killing Fields.

jonattonyeah You make a good point about scores. I just need to pay more attention I guess….I confuse the two all the time (like right before this edit lol)

Blue Velvet. All time fav movie and all time fav score / sound track. The original songs mixed with the selected tracks are sensational. Lynch is the absolute master of that IMO.

Second choice would also be Lynch with Mulholland Drive. Same exact explanation applies.

You mean to tell me Springsteen’s “Streets of Philadelphia” doesn’t top your list? You traitor.

I actually like that song in fairness.

            LT42 The Lost Boys

100% just for the saxophone guy. What a weird scene that is.

Grosse Point Blank for some more 80’s awesomeness.

Toss up between Saturday Night Fever, still the king of soundtracks and Trainspotting. Love Jaws too for completely different reasons

                Lost Highway
                The Warriors
                A Clockwork Orange

                Drive
                Blade runner
                Carlito’s Way

                Tron Legacy…..forgot that one.
