Zackster will be on the floor when he hears Derrick May is techno’s answer to Jimmy Savile.

Blame it on the dance community’s ambivalence to BLM…

-si- When you say hottie, you really mean an absolute filthy slag, which lets face it, thats what really matters!

I remember reading a Mixmag interview with Derrick May basically ogling and making remarks about every woman in the place the interview was taking place. The interviewer signed off the article lauding his techno godfather status but querying his pervy nature. Thought that was a bit odd reading it at the time. Crazy in this day and age pervs like him still get away with it……think thats him done.

Zackster needs to make a statement

If MC hadn’t of already done a terrific g strings gag earlier I could have shoe horned it in ref G Strings of Life.

      Onwards!

…getting nasty , other names mentioned in that FB thread too

Derrick was probably the first real Dj I ever saw. I had no idea who he was, and it wasn’t until years later that I found out he was a big deal. King Britt had him at an all ages show (telling in retrospect) and I went because I was 16 and couldn’t get in anywhere else. I can’t say he, or any of the Bellville 3, had much of a direct impact on my own storied career, but I will say that I always thought Derrick was kinda off. His flouncing around Paris in scarves down to his feet and talking about the creation of Techno as if its akin to rocket science is all a bit painful. I can’t say any of this comes as much of a surprise…..

However, I am 100% DUDES ROCK, so fuck this noise, Derrick is innocent until proven guilty. Asking for a prostitute on your rider is an alpha move, and it shows he understands that sex work as real work.

alistair yes, prog had a huge influence on house and techno. Pushing Too Hard played a big part in the creation of Strings of Life.

If May is innocent, he should sue. I see the author also accuses him of ripping off his piano riff in Strings of Life which is basically the only thing that has kept him relevant all these years
