zackster yep, brain fog is the one. Takes him a few to come up with names and sports facts that he would have had instantly before catching it. Is 66 years old and in otherwise great shape. He is participating in a study at Columbia specifically about COVID’s effects on the brain. Could absolutely be worse, but hearing him talk about how it has impacted him really spooked me and lead to my becoming a recluse for as long as I did.
My sister and brother-in-law caught it roughly around the same time and had Long COVID for at least a year. They felt really lethargic, their sense of taste and smell was all fucked and some days they were rendered pretty much useless. It doesn’t seem to be as bad two years on since getting it, but things they used to love in the way of food really set off their senses and they grew to hate it.
Another mate of mine in the UK got Long COVID so bad that she couldn’t walk and had to use a wheelchair, then a walker and is still dealing with the effects two years on. I see her post on her Instagram stories and she’s a shell of the fit early 30s woman she once was. It’s bonkers.
It’s a virus unlike any other. If you had it yet, count yourself blessed. It really and truly kicked my arse when I had it. I’m pretty sure I got again with one of the more mild variants, but fortunately my immune system fights like a drunken Scotsman a la Begby taking on a whole pub.
