Finally got a minute to myself and watched Parasite. Well worth the hype.

8/10

All of Us Strangers. Slow, sad and poignant - a really good film, but definitely tough going. Great soundtrack, first time I’ve ever heard Build by The Housemartins in a film. Solid 8/10.

Nice one G. Up for going to see that.

Sounds absolutely fucking shite if I’m being honest.

    Dream Scenario (2023)

I liked this a lot more than Kristoffer Borgli’s last film Sick of Myself (2022). Nic Cage is brilliant and totally disappears into his character. The first two thirds are really good, like a cross between Adaptation and Being John Malkovic.

The part in the middle where he meets Michael Cera’s character and then goes back to Molly’s apartment was amazing - the look on Cage’s face at the climax to that scene had me on the floor in bits.

The last third majorly ran out of ideas and momentum but I would still recommend this movie.

    8/10

Watched The American after a few comments on here. Enjoyed it, loved the pacing, nice and tense, lots of unknowns and beautifully shot. Felt like there was something missing and it was a little ruined by knowing full well he was gonna die at the end. 7/10. Could’ve been a bit better.

Saving Private Ryan. Somehow I’d never seen the whole movie from start to finish before, just bits and pieces of it over the years. 5/5 movie, and a reference quality 4K blu ray. Picture and sound. Few movies use the back speakers in a surround sound as much as this one. Both big combat scenes freaked our cats out.

BlainSA I loved Momentum when it came out, but second time round a few years ago and it was dreadful - dated and disjointed.

American Fiction. Love the smell of satire in the morning - a very enjoyable, sometimes a little too obvious, comedy with at least half a dozen LOL moments. 8.5/10

            In America (2002)

Paddy Considine and Samantha Morton play Irish parents trying to make a go of it in Mew York following the death of one of their kids.

The best acting in this was from their two daughters and the film itself was quite well done….they did a good job of getting the 90s feel.

            7/10

Along_the_Wire looking forward to that very much. I think it’s going to be straight to streaming with that one here unfortunately, just like Ferrari.

Blackhat (2015). Michael Mann’s previous film before Ferrari. Watched it for the first time, and chose the director’s cut because apparently that’s better. It still wasn’t very good, wife outright hated it, but I liked the Michael Mannes of it all. Only watch if you liked his 2006 Miami Vice.

Robocop (1988). First time watching. I know, I can’t tell you why only now. This is a perfect satire that’s as relevant now as it was in the 80s. My favorite bit besides the growling robot was the guy who was smiling and giving Murphy thumbs up when he shot and killed his boss.
