Homegrove Prometheus (2012). I dunno, I like this even more on each viewing. This was my third time watching it. Also watched the 3,5 hour making of doc on the Blu Ray extras. I used to love a really good making of, but due to diminishing sales of physical media they rarely make any that go beyond 15 minutes of talking heads saying how much they loved working on this movie. Too expensive if nobody but physical media-nerds buys them. If anyone is feeling really nerdy it’s on Youtube. Usually these docs end with audience reaction, for some reason this skipped that. 😀

Homegrove Wasily would have much preferred the Ian Holm-thing come as a surprise. Jesus Christ you people spoiler-etiquette! Just came out of Alien: Romulus in other words. They could have dialled down the fan service/ homage-department down about 25 % and it would have been much better. Way too many references to the old movies. But real well done, I booked us second row seats, and while it was a pain in the neck and I regretted it because of that all the space stuff was awesome when the screen was all you saw. And the mechanical facehuggers and xenomorphs were much better than the CGI crap on Alien Covenant.

Phil-McRackin Enjoyed this. A murder, a wooden mannequin and a spooky house. Amusing in places with some solid jump scares, which usually annoy me but worked here.

Homegrove Love Lies Bleeding (2024). Pretty gross body horror (and jesus the clogged toilet in the first scene nearly made me gag) in this one. But we both liked it, can deffo see how it’s not for everyone though. 3,5/5.
PeterSpadang Alien Romulus was good actually. My third fave Alien movie, by far. Spoilers: Didn’t need to nod back to other films, as in “get away from her, you bitch”, and I didn’t want another human/alien hybrid. But other than that it was really good!
Homegrove I listened to the director of Romulus being interviewed on the Big Picture podcast, and he said that Ian Holm’s widow and kids were very on board with the android having his likeness and voice. I’m sure they got money for it too, but the director said the family felt Holm was snubbed by Hollywood in the last ten years of his career, and wanted him in the movie because of that. Which was interesting. I can’t remember Holm in much in the 2000s. Jackson’s Tolkien-movies, Garden State, that awful Jack the Ripper-movie with Johnny Depp. That’s about it.
Dan Homegrove I always thought Holm was a more established stage actor than chasing Hollywood roles. I read that he was very proud of Alien and so his estate gave Alverez the green light to use his image. I saw it again last night as my Stepson wanted to see it…so much detail that I’d missed first time around.

rhouses Turns out I’ve watched Aliens way back in the 90s, but not Alien. Haven’t watched anything else. So a lot of the throwback, homage, easter eggs in Romulus kinda went over my head. Though it definitely felt like it was paying tribute. Watched Alien right after Romulus, and damn that’s good. Felt timeless actually. Love how they played the Ian Holm character in both movies.
Homegrove rhouses Alien3 is IMO good if you watch the Special Edition. It’s available at least through Apple. Resurrection could go either way, most people think it sucks but it also has it’s fans. In any case both movies have some amazing set pieces.
Homegrove rhouses it was a small room, thought it’d be ok. I didn’t suffer permanent neck damage, but it was not pleasant.
rhouses Homegrove id have got motion sickness if I was upfront for that gravity acid scene. Great movie, but downgrading rating to 7.9. The first is in the high 8s, maybe touching 9.
