Millsy scrolling through the trabbs thread

Read through it from the beginning, there’s some gold in there!

Dan really nails what it’s like in theater

Didn’t know you had been on the front line? Or did you mean ‘a theatre’?

Amps Many moons ago, mate. A foolish decision.

Amps Beverly Hills Cop - Boss.
      Midnight Run - Boss.
Where Eagles Dare - Preposterously boss and probably the best war film ever.
Masters of the Universe - This just angered me as a kid, it’s actual proof that Hollywood hates it’s customers.

Agree, but this is all Hannu watched.

Amps opening that thread on android and it always takes me to post number 1, your sandle trabs. So grim. Worn on a night out in Playa de Las Americas by Ricky Hatton, stinking in lager.

LT42 lol doom scrolling past Smallsy’s Kermit’s at breakneck speed like some sort of digital flickbook of abject horror.

Along_the_Wire making up for it now with over a hundred first watches a year these days. 😀

The Right Stuff (1983). Philip Kaufman’s classic telling the story of US pilots first breaking the sound barrier and then going to space as the first US astronauts. Full on America-propaganda and entertaining as hell with a great cast. Three hours and ten minutes long, and it just flies by. I can’t understand how, but it feels like about 90 minutes. Chuck Yeger outlived Sam Shepard who plays him in this by three years which is something. There’s a quote in the film about US test pilots having a chance of one in four of dying every time they got up there.

LT42 post number 1, your sandle trabs

As I have made abundantly clear, they were a joke for the thread opener, I clearly don’t own those! 😆

                Lol!

Amps i remember tom cruise going on the graham norton show to plug this movie. they’re selling the whole “he actually looked like your twin” bit and how its completely fine that the characters are talking english rather than german, and i’m like “naaah fuck off, this will be pure shite!”

decided to see it anyway. loved it.

I can’t detach from reality enough to watch a film with Tom Cruise in it.

Wouldn’t have guessed that would ever be an issue tbh

Mad_Cyril He doesn’t exactly ‘Tom Cruise the fuck out of it’ in this one, which helps.

Amps I struggle with the small person / massive cunt paradigm

I don’t mind subs but if you’re doing ‘tales of daring do in WWII’ you don’t need that level of historic accuracy. Cruise’s German would probably have been Pitt’s Oirish levels of bad. Germany might have invaded somewhere again off the back of it.

Mad_Cyril I struggle with the small person / massive cunt paradigm

Like some sort of human manifestation of an Escher picture.

                          Companion 6.5/10

Hard to give a synopsis without a spoiler. Young man takes ‘girlfriend’ to country house. Bad shit happens.

This is a pretty amusing in parts but forgettable movie. It has Sophie Thatcher who did a decent turn in Heretic and who is good in this too, as well as Jack Quaid (the irritating B male Hughie from The Boys). There are some amusing scenes in German and it’s time not wasted on a rainy weekday so all in all came out pretty satisfied with it, but it’s nothing special.
