I’m seeing a lot of love online for a horror from 1972 with Donald Pleasance and Christopher Lee called, Death Line.
“A very unsettling, grubby, masterpiece”
I’m gonna check it and see
LT42 Christopher Lee
One of the best Bond villains. Great actor.
LT42 ‘Mind the doors’.
I love some of the the English horror films from that era, others are absolute shite mind
nicksneddon Hammer House films…
Under The Skin. Fucking hell, possibly the strangest film I’ve seen. Scarlett Johansson drives around Glasgow in a white van picking up single men, then taking them home and processing them for ( I’m guessing ) food. Too many questions, not enough answers
nicksneddon I had to stop watching half way. The scene with the toddler left on the beach when the tide is coming in. 🙁

The book the film derived from essentially was trying to look at our inhumane practice of mass rearing of animals for food and turning it back on us. I.e how would we feel being farmed for food if we weren’t at the top of the food chain? It’s pretty graphic and unpleasant reading.
nicksneddon I absolutely loved that movie. And not just for the footage of that fine ass of hers.
mono-stereo Ex SAS in WW2 …..much respect for that.
Watched it again a few years later and yep, No Country for Old Men is still one of the most overrated films of all time.
slabs
Yeah? I’m a There Will Be Blood guy but still think No Country is excellent. The way both films use silence and the environment of the American West is fantastic.
Probably the third best Coen Brothers film, mind.
Amps
That does not look very good. But I’ll watch it for sure.
jonattonyeah it’s Paul WS Anderson who’s made directed lots of films but only 1 good one…Event Horizon.
Interstellar. Few movies can carry a running time of three hours as well as this. Nolan’s best movie IMO.
The Devil All The Time. Best film ive seen in a quite some time. Bleak and and uncomfortable but in an engrossing way. A bit like the images that Hannu posts up of his Friday night mixes.
seanc80 Just finished watching it and it’s one the best films I’ve seen this year. The whole cast was excellent with a good story. A bit dark in places but also quite moving.
I’m scared to watch that. Everyone who’s seen it keeps going on about how djaerk it is.
Homegrove its not as dark as say.. The Road Its actually not that dour. You will be well fit for it. It will be like ’Look Who’s Talking 2′, for you 😆
seanc80 The Road
Brutal book. Made me wonder if there’s something seriously wrong with Cormac McCarthy.
Shining is on bbc2
I’ve read the book, and have zero intentions of ever watching the movie.
Homegrove
It’s okay. But doesn’t touch the book so you’re not missing much. Felt like a, “well, it won the Pulitzer so better do a film adaptation” sort of thing. McCarthy’s books must be a nightmare to adapt anyway. So much dialogue is internal and overt narration rarely works. I guess that’s why I respect “No Country…” so much. They nailed a really tough book - not just the story, but the feel. You can tell what the characters are thinking when there are no words (or music, for that matter).
Homegrove If you think ‘The Road’ is dark try reading ‘Blood Meridian’. 😱
