Along_the_Wire That is fucking cheap for carbon wheels - check reviews

I have. There from Bontrager & are made in the US. Obviously they are not top end pro race wheels but perfect for me.
I did wonder why they didn’t use disc brakes on road bikes. There’s so much more stopping power.

      Dubman Stopping power isn’t such an issue - in races where you’ve got a mix of disc and calliper and it can get a little hairy as those with discs slow sharply. The main advantage for me that the rims last forever meaning you can ride more expensive, but better wheels. Stiffness is a major factor too - I’ll never ride alloy wheels again.

        That’s just for the front wheel. They are Bontrager are Line pro 30 wheels going on my Trek remedy 8.
        I would love a Santa Cruz or yeti bike but can’t justify spending on over 5k on a bike.

            Dubman …Bontrager are decent, not flashy but solid kit. They used to spec them on Cotic’s etc., sounds a decent deal.

            Personally not risked carbon rims on my MTB as being 17+ stone I’d be concerned about bad impacts compromising them. Have them on my roadie though (not expensive ones, Chinese factory) and they are an awesome upgrade. Rotating weight is the biggest weight saving on a bike, you really feel the difference.

                Trek bought out Bontrager a few years ago. They do make solid kit. The carbon rims have got decent reviews. I think they have a lifetime warranty as well. I’m going for it.

                  Along_the_Wire …not my forte really mate, always been a mountain biker, but I train with a tri club (mainly swimming) and living where I live I’m surrounded by roadies so have been lured to the dark side!

                  Been out a few times a week over lockdown… usually try to do a couple of 20-25 milers a week, nothing serious like you nutters.

                    Did a 20 minute power test this morning - 387W. Got to be happy with that - there’d better be racing this season.

                      It means he’s got thighs like Fatima Whitbread.

                          Just got back from a second ride on the new carbon wheels. The bike definitely feels different. Much more stiffer especially going up a hill. Going to have to redial all my suspension settings. Can certainly see the appeal of a full carbon bike.

                            Dubman You can really feel it when you corner or change direction quickly (especially in quick succession) on a quality carbon bike - you can get shit ones, so beware

                              I’m well happy with my alloy frame & don’t intend on changing for a good few years. I couldn’t afford 5-6 grand anyway for a bike. I only got wheels because Trek done me a good deal.
