Dry-Tinder Its really strange but no one birdstrike is the same as the other, there are a lot of factors that come into play when it comes to the level of damage, plus its not even clear how the hydraulics were damaged but in every aircraft disaster its a chain of events and not one particular issue, unless of course Russian missiles are involved. The pilots called birdstrike on the mayday so what damage it caused is still to be determined, however….
this will go down as pilot error 100%. Between making the mayday call and the belly of the aircraft touching the tarmac, the total time was 3 minutes. In 3 minutes you cant possibly complete all the safety checks and checklists. Its a very strange situation but then again South Korea has a history of crew related failures going back a few decades. knowing the timings it seems the pilots made the decision to go around and land immediately without reaching their given altitude. I don’t know what the conversation with the tower was but that is extremely outside of normal protocol.
The wall at the end of the runway was put in place recently with CCTV for a runway extension and was due to be lifted in April.
