Plenty of work for you at mine Dubman.

I haven’t got a fucking clue so you can rip me off like the roofers did.

I’m hoping it will. But going on the first lockdown and once all the DIY stores and trade shops opened. People started doing it themselves. I did speak to my local store managers and they all said that most of their sales was to the general public.
Just hoping people have made a bodge job and want it done properly.

I wouldn’t work in London anymore but if I did. I certainly wouldn’t rip you off.

That is actually really refreshing to hear.

    You’re a good man Dubman.

Believe or not but most of us tradesmen are decent people. You should always get multiple quotes and always ask friends & family members who have had work done.

Dubman I find most tradesman decent and do a great job, but I wish they would just be honest and say they won’t be in for a month as they’re working on another job, instead of telling you every day that they’re gran had died, there was an accident on the M25, or they’ve been up sick all night and that’ll they’ll be in tomorrow. I had a 5 month job take 18 months and livid in a fucking shithole for most of that time - 6 months without a kitchen (although truth be told, I loved that bit - takeaway heaven)

You do get that with general builders. They take on to much work and can’t finish on time as their work force gets spread out to thinly. I don’t do hardly any work for builders anymore. Being a decorator I need be last in. But I’d always end up working with multiple trades still on the job which effects my finish. I’ve had customers almost in tears because jobs have gone on much longer than specified and they want their house back.

My dad’s a builder and had to rush off the extension job he was doing for me to do a job on my brother’s house. I needed to redecorate and he’d left so many tools etc. on the job that I had to move everything around the rooms every time I needed to paint a ceiling or wall. It made the job take twice as long as if I had the place empty to work in. Fucking nightmare - can imagine the shit you have to deal with like this all the time Dubbers.

Have you ever heard your dad tell a customer on the phone that his gran had died as an excused to work on another job?

Along_the_Wire It always amazes me how often their vans seem to break down, it always an obscure part that takes a couple of days for the garage to get as well.

I tell you what is going dust. A good plasterer.

“She had a face like a plasterer’s radio when I’d finished” still has to be one of my favourite sayings ever.

Dubman I always only go with plasterers my decorator recommends. Stands to reason really.

Is the correct answer. I only recommend one plasterer. There’s hardly any making good and he properly cleans up after he’s finished.

My mum got a phone call from my father today saying that he’s been in contact with somebody at work who’s got covid. He’s been told that he should be ok as they were wearing masks so he doesn’t need to self-isolate. Fingers crossed he hasn’t caught it.
