I hope every single one of those cunts die of COVID

I’m just hurt that Dave didn’t tell me he was in town.

zackster Merkel is getting pretty hard line on the anti vaxxers… making them pay for covid tests if they want entry to pubs, hairdressers etc.. damn right too

Delta has been a problem over here. Anecdotally, we had to shutter the bar due to 7 positives (3 breakthrough) as we got everyone tested post-outbreak. One breakthrough was highly symptomatic with a 100+ (F) degree temp. His 5 month old also tested positive and has had fever issues - they both seems alright. Thankfully all other staff came back negative so we’re good and opened back up after a week closure. That is just staff. God only knows about customers. But we’re offering free rapid Binax tests for those who want them. They usually cost about 25$ but we bought a shit-ton on a pallet so free for those who ask. Been tough to manage the bar thing as well as the 9-5 but such is life.

Our expected peak is August 24th with a decline from there. If you lot across the pond are any indication, the drop should be quick.

This is not the flu. Any comparisons between the two are stupid and should be ignored.

I know three different breakthrough cases. Could just be coincidence but none had lung issues. All three had fever and sore throat and were KO’d for about 8-10 days. Doesn’t give me comfort but is better than My worst fears.

What Jonatton is basically saying here is Hugo is a complete clown.

Are you wearing one of these today? You massive spaz.

On whether it’s flu or not… at the mom in the U.K. we are running at 30k deaths annualised (87 a day on average)…average flu deaths in the U.K. in the run up to covid were 10k a year… so covid at the moment is killing many more people still and it’s summer - the death numbers during winter could turn out to be far higher. Never mind the side effects (long covid)… the idea that covid is just flu is a load of hairy bollocks right now. It may end up that way but no one can make that judgement yet with complete confidence.

Jules72 Jules, Hugo’s hacked your account. Make sure you’ve got Tinder locked down at the very least

Heading to North China with Snr on Saturday Dave.

303abuser alberta will be the real world experiment for everyone else to watch. as of august 16th, there are zero restrictions. as in, if you have covid (with a positive test) you don’t have to quarantine. we’re ending testing, tracking, and basically pretending it doesn’t exist. and we have the lowest vaccination rate in the country. i’m assuming that once school is back in september, it’s going to be a shit show.

Googled and your vaccination rates are still quite good, certainly way better than in Finland. We just had a record amount of new infections today, yet hospitalisations are going down, as are deaths. Main problem for health care is that testing and tracing takes such a huge amount of the staff.

Jules72 eurgh, this again - how it is relative to flu is mostly on a gradient relative to age. It’s less bad rising to about 35, then above 35 it starts getting worse.

Plus with vaccination for any age group it is no worse than flu.

There is also speculation that a significant amount of so-called “long covid” cases are actually previously low-lying/dormant conditions in some people e.g. herpes and Epstein-Barr Virus just being reactivated during the period of immunosuppression when ill.

PS, along with age, obesity is the most significant factor for the severity of covid. Obesity is also a major factor in the severity of flu. Interestingly enough, similar to the increase in age, it appears the more obese one gets the more potentially fatal covid is relative to flu:

“We found obesity was a risk factor for the severity and mortality of influenza (ORsevere outcome = 1.56, CI: 1.28-1.90; ORmortality = 1.99, CI: 1.15-3.46). For COVID-19, obesity was a significant risk factor only for severe outcome (OR = 2.07, CI: 1.53-2.81) but not for mortality (OR = 1.57, CI: 0.85-2.90). Compared with obesity, morbid obesity was linked with a higher risk for the severity and mortality of both influenza (OR = 1.40, CI: 1.10-1.79) and COVID-19 (OR = 3.76, CI: 2.67-5.28”.
