303abuser why cubase over ableton for mixing? just a familiarity thing or workflow?
I get better results. My mixdowns sound better. Low end sounds tighter. I don’t know why exactly it is, but I’m not the only one who has this issue with Ableton. Apparently people have done audio engine comparisons and it’s supposedly the same as other DAWs in terms of quality, but I’m not entirely convinced.
That said, in terms of ease of creativity nothing comes close to Ableton that I’ve encountered. The audio and routing capabilities are pretty phenomenal.
loopdokter fair enough. i’ll be sticking with ableton as there’s no way i’m learning another daw, but it’s good to know the differences.
ableton 11 upgrade out early next year …
…yeah, lanes, that’s it. Fucking annoying you have to turn off automation view to see them, I’ll never remember that in a million years!
What was that function where it cut between the different lanes based on a user set pattern? sounded mad
Got an email from Ableton offering 20% early bird which I will go for.
30 minute overview of the new features with Petrichor here:
Looks really good. Can use MPE with Push 2 which is a bonus. Hybrid Reverb and scale option for clips also big pluses that I can see myself using a fair bit.
Also got an early bird invite for the upgrade with 20% which is a no brainer.

…how much from 10 > 11 H?
…fuck, that’s quite a lot, only upgraded to 10 last December
The update from 9 to 10 took years so agreed this is a bit of a pisser having this come so soon.
Bit disappointed about not getting a new synth too. The Poli synth has been around for ages and looks a bit shit. I do wonder whether this will be a regular thing now with more regular releases.
Having said all that the updates I mentioned earlier plus the additional packs that will surely follow will make it worth it.
it’s definitely early and i appreciate that they dropped the upgrade price, but this seems like a 10.5 version rather than 11.0.
Comping and scales overlay on the piano roll I’d definitely use - which are time savers more than anything. I already have beatseaker so it’s a bit annoying that it’s going to be an integrated feature. I’m not sure how linked editing would be helpful. Extra macro’s is fine. Easy on additional packs / effects etc. Biggest issue for me though is that my music computer runs Windows 7 and this will be Windows 10 only. I don’t really want to reconstitute it again, having survived the harddrive crash from last year.
