303abuser Still just trying to find a fucking kick drum 😄. Lots of interesting bits - running through his career / the akai revolution / the back and forth of a collaboration where the other party is the ‘director’. Bit disappointed we won’t be hearing any bedrock dnb though.

apyssjw it’s always interesting to listen to the people who are the best at what they do talk about their craft. i find it to be a good benchmark for myself when i start to hear more similarities with my own process. and yeah, too bad about the dnb haha.

Ordered a new steed yesterday, just been told it won’t be here for a month 👎️

303abuser Ended up cancelling my MacBook order. Did some more reading around various forums. The general consensus is that once software companies have support for the native Silicon chips, then the Intel support is likely to get neglected as energy is spent ironing out fixes the M1s. Add to that trying to sell any Intel Mac a few year years from now.
I think the Mac Mini option is probably the best as I don’t need portability with the MacBooks.

Henry that’s probably a good call, from what i’ve read too. i’m still using a 2012 mac mini and it’s just now starting to bottleneck my projects (which actually forces me to bounce to audio and commit to ideas, so even that’s not all bad). the mini is fantastic value, can’t wait to upgrade.

Needs a few more keyboards if anyone’s going to take him seriously!

Maybe one of those that project onto the floor like you see in toy shops??

Mad_Cyril Maybe one of those that project onto the floor like you see in toy shops??

        He’s probably got one.

How is he still rocking that 2008 teen rainbow goth barnet?

Taking any soft synth suggestions at present. Preferably stuff with lots of tutorials and gnarly techno sounds.

Amps do you own other soft synths and a niche product is ok or are you looking for something that can do everything?

About to get the full Ableton Suite, and want to pick up a decent / interesting / well documented / well known / recognisable synth to learn on.

in that case, i’d go with either arturia’s pigments, uhe diva, or uhe repro.

pigments is the most versatile, has sampling & wavetable engines, endless modulation possibilities and decent built in fx and a sequencer. it’s probably got a steeper learning curve because of all the options, but it sounds amazing and you’ll find lots of tutorials on youtube.

either uhe option is good, with diva being the most “analog” virtual synth you’ll find and repro is basically a prophet clone, if that’s your thing. i don’t own repro, but i’ve almost bought it a couple of times, i’ve been using diva for 3 years. i can’t image there’s a sound you could think of that you couldn’t make with diva.

i’ll give honorable mentions to unfiltered audio’s lion and bx oberhausen. i use both of them and you can pick them up on sale at plugin alliance for $15-20, making them great 2nd options. and if you need something for acid, abl3 is the best you’ll find.

if you get to the point where you want really wild options for crazy sound design and less conventional workflows, i can give you a few options there too.

…Diva is beautiful, but I wouldn’t file it under ‘gnarly’
(point at which he discovers he’s been using it all wrong)

i should add, if you can wait two months, black friday sales will save you a lot on most/all of these. and if you’re learning ableton suite, you’ll have more than enough to keep you busy until then. and if you want a plugin alliance $25 off code that’s good until the end of the week, let me know and i’ll give you mine.
