Just abandoned Fairy Tale by Stephen King, massive load of aul shite.
Gave it a good go, over ¼ of it, but couldn’t bear to waste any more of my life on it.
Swerve.
Mad_Cyril I’ve read prob 95% of his output but I looked at the synopsis of this and decided against a purchase. I am not a fan of the fantasy type stuff he does.
I do think the wife will prob get it for me as an Xmas gift , so no doubt I will read it, but not expecting much
gcw Loads of folks comparing to Dark Tower series.
Not sure what fucking planet they’re on.
Currently slogging through The Grid by Nick Cook (which is just OK) so that I can get started on The Fear Index by Robert Harris
Back to Banks’ Culture-series with Inversions. I think this will be a great reread one day, where you spot the hints that it even is a Culture-novel better when you know how it ends.
Rachel Harrison’s Such Sharp Teeth was fucking great. A werewolf-novel that’s like a romantic comedy in book form with exteme body horror.
Homegrove fucking great. A werewolf-novel that’s like a romantic comedy in book form
Yo Hannu, I think your account has been hacked by a 40 year-old cat lady.
Finally dived into 1Q84.
Should have done so a long time ago. Murakami is a tremendous writer and it’s been too long since I read one of his novels.
Don’t hold tight for feedback
Mad_Cyril IQ84 is deffo one of his better recent ones. Thought it was pretty good. Recall getting the horn a few times too. He’s got a new one coming out in April, but the translation will take a while.
Truman Capote - In Cold Blood
One of the very best I’ve read. A fantastic retelling of a true crime story.
Michael Connelly - Desert Star. One of the better Bosch/Ballard books albeit a bit melancholy at the end. @Homegrove have you read this?
gcw it’s the newest right? Not yet, I think I’m two behind.
Homegrove yep the newest. Think it’s the 5th one with Ballard and its not bad. In hindsight there’s a couple of average Ballard ones in the list
gcw Dermo’s a fairly average bellend too
About to start reading this -
Hold tight for feedback!
Smallman1 Thought you were busy with ‘Girlfriend’?
Bought her a copy too.
Who said romance was dead?!
Smallman1 Cute.
Have you also got a bag of Lyme and a shovel labelled ‘girlfriend’ written in the hallway?
I don’t chief.
Hope that helps!
Smallman1 Good to hear
Only because it would be ruined by the rainwater.
Michael Mann & Meg Gardiner - Heat 2. Aside from very cringy sex depictions and some weird timeline stuff (for example I’m pretty sure there were no black markets in South America selling pirated DVDs in 1996. Seems way too soon) aside I liked it a lot. The writing was reminiscent of James Elroy, and you learned a lot more about all the main characters. Will have to watch the movie once again this weekend having read this.
