I missed it originally - before my time. To me it belongs to a different generation, much like the similarly overplayed marmite/classic track Voodoo Ray. Belongs to my cousin and his mates, 8 years older than me, and going to Ibiza when I was into Britpop.

I think we’ve all seen Nick Warren play it at some point haven’t we?

It’s great if you’re spangle-dangled. Hearing it normally just reminds me of what a crap movie The Beach was.

Yes, I remember being utterly smashed hearing it one time, I believe it was in a club in Bristol (but Warren wasn’t playing it), and I even invented my own tribal dance to it, which was a bit like a speeded-up version of the Haka, which I did in my own space at the back of the dancefloor.

Great times.

Yeke Yeke is a fun track and in 95, that Hardfloor breakdown was revelatory.

It’s an incredible remix really. It just works so well, especially in the breakdown with the repetitive chant. Problem is Hardfloor used the formula with diminishing returns after. Still absolute legends for Acperience, Circus bells and this though.

A lot of old farts love it. Last time I played it was at my 40th (it was a “rave” with about 100 people attending), biggest track of the night. Needs a very special occasion though.

Love the original, love the Hardfloor mix. Stop there though. Any Edit or mix since just ruins it even more than it’s over played nature ever did.

I prefer Yeke Yeke to Where Love Lives.

I know Where Love Lives has sentimental value to some people, but people always seem to drop it at an awful time I’ve found and it totally flattens the vibe of a dancefloor.

Having said that, I’m now so bored of lockdown, I would happily pay a few hundred quid to be back in a club with Norman Jay failing to mix a bunch of overplayed club classics like Where Love Lives and Voodoo Ray, with a bunch of monged 55 year olds who still love those tracks from their eighties clubbing days.
