He may need to adjust his Latency (or buffer) settings to around 9 to 13 ms.
DJ setups/Mixer porn/New toys thread...
NasserAlazzawi Beat me to it!

Failing that though- I’d message Traktor support
I’m sure I’ve heard of this happening in rekordbox but I don’t use streaming to DJ atm.
Could be a buggy platform issue nothing to do with latency.
The clue is if it only happens when streaming as latency would be an issue across files too.
(When streaming, the whole track is downloaded in about 3 seconds then let go of when finished playing - you are not actually “streaming” by the second)

NasserAlazzawi Tracks loaded in that aren’t read and imported properly sometimes have this problem, especially if they’ve complex drum patterns they’ll go +-60, however I’ve never streamed before and neither do I use a portable HD for gigs.
I am thinking of upgrading/getting myself a new toy and would appreciate some thoughts/advice.
I have had a Pioneer DDJ-400 DJ Controller for about 3 years now. Has done a good job but I wonder what other options are out there for consideration? I like how portable it is, I can move it round very easily and I probably don’t have the space to put a designated set of equipment down in one place. But of course the downside of a controller is the need to always have to use a laptop with it - I am wondering if 2 separate decks and a mixer would be worth a shot?
We are moving house next year (somewhere bigger) so may have some room for a full on designated set up but that isnt a given. Look forward to any equipment advice cheers.

gcw Suppose it depends how you feel.
I hated playing tethered to a laptop, felt very sterile. But that’s just me, I prefer to just play. Having said that, you might still have to piss about a bit with files - I like to have the picture on my WAV so I can recognise it easier, like a record label / sleeve.
What i kind of got disconnected from with the DDJ400 is how small it was compared to a full sized setup, so going out and checking in the wild really helped me size my setup for the space I had (confirmed it would fit!!!). Some of the bigger controllers take up the same real estate as a separates setup.
I’d honestly go find a DJ Shop and have a play around, you can try loads of different shapes / sizes / setups and get a feel for what works best for you. I had a disaster recently with Allen & Heath Mixers because I didn’t try before I bought them, fortunately Bop DJ were amazing.
The obvious bonus of having a permanent set up is it’s less of a ball ache setting everything up, especially if you get limited time due to other commitments!
Finally, my broken record advice, don’t discount Denon. Not only a better price point but feature rich and way ahead of the curve for things like streaming if that’s your bag. Very intuitive on board SW and the updates just work
Have fun looking!
cheers @Mad_Cyril (I knew you would recommend Denon LOL)
Good point about trying before buying, I’ll see what shops there are around my way (if any).
Stupid question - I presume that if you dont use a laptop, then you are putting music files on a USB stick and then plugging that stuck into the mixer yeah? And the USB stick is effectively your record bag? So you still have to use the laptop at the start to buy the music and transfer it to the USB?
I really enjoy having nothing to do with a laptop. I use an XDJ XZ - I’d imagine Pioneer will be updated it at some point mind like they did with the RX
I wouldn’t touch the Denon’s personally, the state of those rectangular buttons…
Along_the_Wire I do like the XDJ-XZ but it’s fairly pricey isn’t it, looks to be £2,800 new (i wouldn’t buy 2nd hand). I’m quite time poor at the moment because of an 8 month old so I probably only get about 2-3 hours a month to play music.

Weirdly I had the same problem (music speeding up and slowing down) but on rekordbox.
This has never happened to me before.
The thing that caused it was plugging my unit into the laptop, but via a usb dongle (with other things connected)
What fixed it was plugging the one cable directly into the laptop with no competing signals and I plugged the hub into the other side.
The XDJ-XZ was recently replaced by the XDJ-AZ (four channel standalone with streaming / wifi) - without going to separates it’s the closest thing to CDJ-3000 and DJM-A9 club set up.
Can run on USB or performance mode plus hook up to Beatport Link (and other services are coming)
The smaller units to consider are:
- DDJ-FLX10 (best laptop controller out for rekordbox)
- XDJ-RX3 (2 channel standalone not as advanced as AZ)
- buy a used XDJ-XZ (around £1600?) it’s still one of the best units going to play on but the screen display is older style now. Most owners take care of these.
- avoid the FLX6 it is really not good!
On the Denon side I love the SC6000 pair with a mixer of your choice. Friend has them with a Euphonia and mixing on that is delightful.

You knows it Nass, pair with a Resør and even betterer
A pair of 1210’s and a 2 channel mixer. Simple life
Had some pals around for a mix last night (rare chance, Soph took the baby to see family in Manchester)
This is a basic example of what you can do with lighting and an RB-DMX1 (but you have to DJ from your laptop for it to work!)
You can ramp up / down the energy levels or leave it to what it thinks the track’s energy is by default and it syncs with the beat.
You need Phrase Analysis on, on your collection, as the lights listen to Phrase to decide when breakdowns and most energy is etc.
I love it. Counting beats, bars & phrases all in your head without looking at a screen.. riding that pitch
Definitely something I appreciate about being at one with some vinyl records.
There’s no point in me starting a collection off now when my library is massive (and the expense and inconvenience of vinyl is the main factor) but on the flip side if I won the lottery tomorrow I’d start a collection and buy a Euphonia mixer.

NasserAlazzawi you need time to do the vinyl. Time in shops listening. Time at home listening. It’s not a luxury everyone has.
I loved buying when I was a student, now, aligned to cost, seems like I’d need to go part time to invest enough time to justify the outlay.
Chasing that feel digitally requires a lot of discipline, most of us have huge catalogues of tunes we barely, if ever, listen to
