Problem is, Pioneer mixers can actually play in the (low) reds without clipping, but this sets a dangerous precedent, one DJ after another pushing the levels up-and-up, the main reason they sound shit on big systems much of the time.

Didn’t mind the meters on the DB4, but I was mainly playing on Traktor then and not mixing sources much… the Rane 2015 had the most accurate LED-style metering I’ve used. The VU’s on my new one are OK, still getting used to them, still maintain VU-style is better suited to master output than channels.

      Never redlined on Pioneer. Or any mixer actually.

      Unbroken1 Yeah I’ve seen that done a lot. I’ve seen young guns and some professional DJs have no issue sitting in the 1, occasionally touching 2 reds on DJM 800, 900 nexus 1 and 2. Not sure if this happens on all of them but I’ve eventually seen someone push it so much it flashes a new level of red saying CLIP CLIP CLIP when they’ve obviously gone way too far.

        Get the Amps sorted prior to the gig…

          Funny you say about Red lining….I used to play tennis with a soundsystem supplier for the Chelmsford V festival. He stayed on site looking after the systems. Sasha didn’t come out of it too well….said he was properly throttling the system telling him it wasn’t loud enough…turns out the fucking council were monitoring the levels…wankers.

          For the record he did play Trisco that afternoon!

          FabiParas I love it, but I guess I would say that. My only comparison is the RX2 though - I used to have some Tracktor controllers and even had an A&H Xone 3D, but always used sync and never used CDJs or jog wheels. I love knowing that I’m using kit that’s similar to the industry standard - it feels better and more solid. At the moment, I’m just beatmatching and mixing - I’m not doing anything clever and am not really even looping as I need to get comfortable with everything else first. It’s great being free from the laptop too.

            The missus keeps on asking me what for xmas etcera and I never have a clue. Then I said I wouldn’t mind that one and she was like. “I’ll get it for you if you want.”

              tbf, she’s coming off my furlough scheme at the end of Feb. ’bout time she put a little back into the economy.

              Has anyone used or bought denon sc5000’s?
              Was going to buy xdj 700’s but have started to look at these ,used cdj 1000 mk3’s for years would just like to hear some feedback??? Cheers

                I have SC5000s…….if you can get over them “not being Pioneer” they are a far superior product in terms of tech than CDJ 2000s . I has CDJ900s prior to my Denons and never regretted selling them to fund these.

                Build quality is slightly less impressive, but unless you are gigging and taking them all over the place I don’t see that as an issue. I had one problem with one deck and Customer Service sent a courier out within 2 days to pick up and fix. Was pretty impressed on that front. No issues since then.

                Some don’t like the look and color combinations, but never bothered me. Pioneers are a good option for an "“all in one” home system if you play out on CDJs from time to time. Ive always gone for a dedicated mixer and couldn’t justify the price tag of CDJs vs features based on home use.

                  Heno SC5000 will be far, far superior over the XDJ-700. It’s not even close. Try and have a go of them first and get to grips with it - it’s not too different from pioneer but the CPU and Screen is much faster/smoother/better.
