Along_the_Wire …they are all 2000’s mate, not sure which gen though.

Amps …layout is pretty much the same as mine, channel faders 1-4 along the bottom (cue & headphone vol in the middle). The two small knobs above each channel are shelving EQ’s, used when you are playing vinyl to compensate for poor pressings etc. Medium size knobs on the next row are Aux sends, 6 big knobs in the middle are the isolators (3-band, low/mid/high, left side/right side). Above that ISO switch (left ISO to ½, right to ¾ or bypass). At the top not so sure, but it’ll be stuff like booth/master, meter switches etc.

Nah, Hawtin would want much more bells & whistles, lots of channels/FX etc. He co-designed the Model1 in zoogly’s vid above- it has much more in common with a studio mixing desk. The Isonoe’s are the opposite really, very stripped-down feature-wise, it’s all about sound quality. They do have that industrial look though as they are knocked-together by hand by a bloke in a unit in North London.

I’ve spent ages trying to link my laptop to the XDJ XZ without any success today, which has been annoying, but more annoying is the right-hand jog-wheel has started sticking - not much, and not in the same place and not every rotation, but it’s annoying the fuck out of me. Stopped the music and compared to the left-hand jog wheel, which was perfect, but without music, you can hear a scratching/scraping sound when it sticks.

I’m guessing this is gonna have to go back, but just wondered if it’s one of those sorts of things that comes and goes, or sorts itself out? Or at least hope so.

…are you trying to link the laptop just to pull tracks out of RB in the same way you would a USB?

The mechanical thing doesn’t sound good…

Unbroken1 …are you trying to link the laptop just to pull tracks out of RB in the same way you would a USB?

Yup, but also use it as another deck.

…daft question, but are you hitting ‘Link’ at the bottom of the screen? It should pop up when you connect.

Surely you can return it? You’ve only had it a couple of weeks…

Unbroken1 There’s a link button down the left hand side of the screen. I’ll see if there’s anything on the actual screen itself.

Along_the_Wire could have something like a bit of debris from something stuck in it - not sure of you can remove and do self repair …….i too cannot easily set up the Link mode but i am assuming to is due to my total ignorance ! happy to experiment and report back

…bottom left of the laptop screen, there’s a button says ‘Link’, it’ll be greyed-out:

          …you need to select it:

…re- the mechanical, hold the unit upside down and see if anything is moving around, might be a bit of polystyrene or packaging inside, you might be able to nip it out with a pair of tweezers

Unbroken1 cheers Damo, I’ll give it a go, but the scraping sound is definitely metal on metal.

The DJ Shop said to send it back

Do you think they do a minimal industrial looking mixer?

The DJ Shop have been excellent about the XZ - they pick it up Tuesday - it breaks my little ginger heart. Thank fuck I didn’t get rid of the RX2 yet - I doubt I’ll see the XZ this side of Christmas, which is a massive shame given it’s my 50th in between now and then 😢

mono-stereo Hopefully just a quick fix - it all works, just the jog-wheel sticks and scrapes at certain, random points - feels like it’s repairable
